 Any of our illustrious Fender Bassmen and Basswomen have any hands on experience with the Zoom B3? It's a pretty attractive unit. Any observations :?:

hey linnin..

I haven't had experience with these, but judging from the looks of it... they're gonna be big..
also the ability to turn it into a DI unit is an added plus...

here's a thread that might interest you

I've had experience with the Zoom B1X

Sound 3 out of 5.. I'm loving it because of the Modulations ( Chorus, Flanger, Phaser)

Reliability 2.5 out of 5.. it hanged towards the end of the gig and I never used it on stage after that. Had it replaced and the 2nd unit was the same as the first one...

update here linn.. i was able to try out the b3..

well first of all you'll need a separate expression pedal..

box is very sturdy..
it didn't hang on me..
settings are fun to tweak..
well of course distortion, synth and octaves are still a pain to manipulate but i can get a good tone out of it... from punk rock o funk slap solos..

Thanks for the update, eyecandy. I read through a lot of that talkbass thread. The best thing is that it doesn't cut out the bottom end or muddy the lows as so many effects do. Also there is true bypass.

There's a ton of really good things it can do. I still haven't been able to try it out for myself yet, but I will.

actually the best part of the zoom b3 is unlike other expensive unit is there is a direct output via usb.. plus you can use it as a DI.. and a built in tuner all in one.. so recording, live, and practice.. you can have it and its like running around 200 bucks.. you can't really go wrong with it... however there are pros and cons of course for using multi effects..

technically their sansamp mode isn't as sweet sounding or their svt clone... but my favorites are the Fender Bassman and Hartke's slap tone..

The distortion has a little bit of grind to it but I'm not into that type of sound so basically.. I'm more fond of the modultion of the zoom processor... Chorus swells and stuff.. also they sound very good on my Beats headset :?

and as I've mentioned I have a B1X at home.. I plainly use it for quiet practice..
