Hey, I'm new to this website. For my love of Fender, i decided to post this query. I was in a second-hand shop and noticed what looked like a Fender for a very cheap price. As i looked it over i realised quickly that it was a fake, (i own a Fender, i know the ins-and-outs). The logo was an exact copy of the Fender logo, which i'm pretty sure is fraud. It was being labelled as a Stratocastor, which is also misleading, (i'm pretty sure it had no relation to any Fender copies, ie, Squire). Amazingly once i realised this the shopkeeper admitted it was a fake and said they had a guy who made them. What should i do about this?

I suppose the question is how involved do you want to be? And also what is the law on this in your country?

You could always contact Fender in your country and tell them about it and let them sort it out - after all it is in Fender's interest to deal with the issue, I suppose if you alert them to what is going on then you have done your bit and it is then up to Fender.

+1

FMIC maintains a very capable legal staff to deal with just such matters as this, headed by a gentleman named Mark Van Fleet. Contact Fender and they'll take it from there.

I think that due to your self-expressed Love for Fender, you have an obligation to report the counterfeit operation to Fender.

This way, the Brand you love won't be dilluted with a bunch of inferior products being pawned off on unsuspecting newbies !

Don't get me wrong... imitation is the highest level of Flattery and there are many Strat and Tele 'clones' out there which are truly quality instruments... But they need to be labled as such .. !!

There are also probably many more inferior 'clones' out there waiting to grab unsuspecting buyers!

With a Fender, you're also buying nearly 70 years of experience, research, quality control and support...

With the 'clones' you don't get any of these things for your money !

cheers!
