I really want a small tube amp so I can crank up the volume to get some good fat overdrive. Any suggestions? I was thinking along the lines of the gretsch electromatic 1x6,epiphone valvejr., fender champion. or any other suggestions. I want one that has a good clean and a fat overdrive. Please Help. thanks

I'm a huge fan of the Peavey Classic 20. 15W of all tube power. Of course any low wattage Fender tube amp would do just fine too. Even the Epiphone valve Jr. at 5W is pretty cool. It even comes in a head/cab configuration. You can crank that anywhere.

Check out the Blues Junior. It's got a 12 inch speaker. With the preamp control (volume) you can crank it full of gain and get a very good fat blues tone at low volume. It's a couple of hundred more than the little champ600.

I have the Valve Junior half-stack, and it's nothing to laugh at. The smaller versions are just as nice.

I've seen the Valve jr. half-stack demo on youtube and it was awesome I just wish it had reverb. Also, can anyone out there recommend a good reverb pedal? thanks

Blues Junior has Fender reverb. Some purists say it's not tube driven, but it sounds very, very good, from a little to a lot. Makes surf music authentic. heh heh heh wipeout

I suggest a Vox Valvetronix they run 15watts to 100watts.I have a 50watt valvetronix and its awesome. It has 11 amp modules 11 effects that you can controll and you can even store 13 of your favorite sounds. It has a gain treb, mid, bass controll and 21 presets. It runs anywere between $249-$579 at guitarcenter the price is well worth it. :D

hot rod, i would try a fender blues jr, or the mesa/boogie express5:35,they do the fender deluxe sound great but is switchable between 5and 25 watts. This amp screams, i am trying to talk the wife into letting me get a express head and a 1 12" csb, then when i need more i can plug it into a bigger cabnet. Also Try out a vox as15, it breaks up rather quickly, guicker then i want an amp to break up and i love the ac 30.

For a reverb pedal i have been super pleased with my electro harmonix holy grail reverb

Try a Blues Jr, a champ 600, or one of those new blackheart's will sound great!

Best reverb pedal I've tried/owned is the ElectroHarmonix Holy Grail. Very amp-sounding rather than digital sounding. One thing to consider, though, is it doesn't run off of batteries. You HAVE to plug it in. I assume it just is too much of a power hog to make 9V batteries practical.

I actually wasn't too terribly impressed with the Valve Jr. or Champion 600. Both were TOO quiet and plain. I like to have my amp just a little dirty and then mess with the volume on my guitar to dial more or less (or no) distortion. That was problematic with these two amps when I tried 'em.

Can't go wrong with a Silverface Champ.
