You're welcome. Another thought. Try PMing Brad Traweek or Alan Willey. They may be able to point you in the right direction.

I spoke with the manager of the store I dropped it off at. He is calling Fender to see what is happening. I am expecting a call ...phone is ringing!

COOL!!

Yoda, I deal with L&M all the time. They are just like any other large chain of stores. Decent prices but they don't neccessarily have experienced staff. I let them work on my Epi LP one time because they offered to swap out my pups for just the cost of the parts and no labour charges. They scratched the headstock and then charged me for a part (different pot) that I supplied. I won't do business with their service department ever again. Sales is a completely different story. They're very good to me. They'll bring an item in just so I can try it with no commitment to buy. Find yourself a decent guitar tech out there in the gap and use him for your service work. Or better yet, teach yourself how to solder.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I called my go to salesman at the location with the tech I wasn't happy with. I thought he might be able to see whats going on. When I told him I wasn't happy with previous work from the tech, he seemed offended and told me their tech had just retired and he is an electronics god. He praised him up and down. I am now doing my own set ups, so that shouldn't be an issue. My Dad built and modified electronics for over 25 years, so if I could ever get him motivated to fix ANYTHING of mine, I could get him to do it, but it will probably take longer to get my guitar back from him than it did from L&M.

Glad to hear your guitar is back. I've got my fingers crossed. You've had a really lousy experience, your plans to do your own work sounds like a good plan.

You mentioned in earlier posts that there weren't any good techs in your area, I don't have any real close either. What I plan to do when it arises is, travel around 70 miles to a store that has a GREAT tech and a better reputation. I'll schedule a time and all they ask is four hours, lots of time to sample all their goodies. Maybe you can do the same.

Good luck!
