So look what arrived in the post today!

Image

It's a VOX Mini3. Mains or Battery powered little modelling amp.

Here is a peek at the control panel.

I'm genuinely amazed at how different all the presets sound, some good marshell tones out of the UK amp models and some good old Vox and Fender style thrown in for good measure.

Also I'll never know how I've lived without a spring reverb for so long, it makes me actually want to play blues now

Anyway for what its worth this amp offers a whole lot for the cheap price, about £80 over here so not sure the dollar price, but for going over to friends and moving to different rooms in the house it offers really good sound for not much cash. I still can't believe how much volume it pumps out for the size.

Congrats ! It is really a nice little amp ! A friend (pro player) brought one to my house a while ago - we were up to recording some demoes - and we used that little thing - miked it up , it just sounded great !
I was also considering it , but ended up with a Cube XL 20 -which failed shortly after - so I swapped it to an XL40 . What strikes me , is the resemblance in layout to yours. May it serve you well :D

Nope all solid state. But thats fine, I have a all tube amp which is great but this is ideal when I want to practise high gain at low volumes and also I can get a half decent tone with the volume down when I play with my acoustic friend.

I also like having the line in, great for playing along with songs on the iPod.

I know how this is going to go, the usual story of the cheap practise amp that ends up being the amp played 99% of the time

Hey Snowjoe, congrats on getting such a great little amp.I bought a blonde Mini 3 a few months ago and I'm still blown away by how good it sounds.I'm a sucker for Vox amps and already have 4 and about a month ago I bought a VT-20-and a Tele-for an exceptionally gifted 11 year cousin of mine. The only issue I have with the amp is that the speaker is really too small to take full advantage of the tonal range of the amp.I ran a cable from the headphones input to the aux. in of a very high quality boombox and the sound quality improved tenfold-a dedicated line out would be a great addition to this amp and it's about the only thing that it's needing.

I was just wondering about the tube... I traded a Crate 212 for a Vox AT60 awhile ago. It had the 12AX7 tube that made a world of difference in the tone compared to the solid states... that's why I asked.
I still have my old Fender Automatic, all solid state, with the "line in" jacks as well as a headphone jack. Always wonder why Fender can't just stick those items on the Hot Rods and others.
Great choice on that little guy. Rock on!
