A clean setting with a bit of reverb and a Tele will get you there....

It's in the fingers...Mostly......

^ what he said. Plus a lot of treble. Country is much harder to play well than most people realize.

I'm using a C-Rex in my DRRI.

You might have better luck starting out with a "country" amp.

(BTW, that's a traditional BF Fender -- or a re-issue)

BTW....Celestion's are a great brand of speakers. Changing to an Eminence or whatever else isn't going to instantly / magically transform you into Vince Gill anymore than buying a white reverse headstock Stratocaster will transform me into Jimi Hendrix....

It's all about sitting down and studying, practicing the music you wish to play, learn the theory, the nuance's, the structure of melody and rhythm.
There is no magic instant buy it and be this.....Never mind the marketing hyperbole and spin, it's all about woodshedding.......

Even though country music appears to be based on simple Three chord song structures it is rather difficult to play well and time spent getting it right will pay huge dividends later.
I would suggest going back two generations and listening to early Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Doc Watson, especially digging up some of the Grand Ole Opry performances.
Or go way back and find Riley Puckett, The Carter family, jimmie Rodgers, Deford Bailey,
it's just a lot of fun to see where today's music originated..

I have taught several new players the basics and it seemed they were well bent on playing Metallica, drop tuning and all that stuff. The agreement was that if I were to teach them the basics for free, they had to learn Wildwood Flower before moving on, if there is moving on.

One friend of mine, actually went from zero to Wildwood Flower within two weeks.

It literately took me years to learn that song and am having a hard time playing it today.

Note to self, practice that song again, and perfect it.
