This guitar belongs to a friend of mine's wife I'm replacing the tuners and strings on this for her as a surprise. It was her grandfathers. Does anyone know anything about these?

Does it have a wooden tail piece ? (it appears to be a screwed on wooden tail piece). Might be from world war 2 when metal was scarce.

yes, it does appear to be a wooden tailpiece. the ww2 angle hadn't occured to me, very possible though.

Don't know about that specific model but back in the early sixties Beltone solid bodies and tube amps were widely available in Canada. They were middle priced budget instruments and I do believe made in Japan and branded by Beltone, whom I think was out of Chicago. HTH
