Let's see everyones guitar picks. I don't always use a pick, but when I do I like stone guitar picks. The one on the left is mexican scenic jasper and the one on the right is picture jasper. Both 1.3mm thick. From Picks of Stone Imagein Canada.

Have you tried one of these things? Wouldn't they break? Or are they just decorative?

I've always been curious if they tore strings up.

I keep one in the cases of all my strats (5). I suppose you could break one if you tried real hard but I never have come close to breaking one and they don't seem to be hard on strings to me.

Thanks for the info. They wouldn't be suitable for me as like a pick to be flexible but some of them sure are purdy.

i've been known to break big E strings with a thin pick. not so much anymore but i tend to be a bit aggressive. the picks are beautiful but i'd probably drill a small hole in it and wear it as a neclace. i don't wear necklaces but i'd wear one of those. very cool.
i use dunlop 73 mm. my bestest favorite.

Nice picks as far as aesthetics go but they wouldn't be of much use to me as I like my Dto have a fair amount of flex and "give" to them, such as the Dunlop 73 mm Nylon.

Nice eh? Here's another. The blood spatter pattern is extremely fine and vivid in this stone. Beautiful.

Well, I'm a bit of a collector, so you've got me going now. Jasper and white Agate.

Most of these are just for the collection, but I like a nice stiff pick, so I find these perfecly useable. I've got a few stones in my personal pick tin.
Don't get me started on Bone, wood, fossil ivory, abalone, MOP, metal ......

I have a couple of those,
I have one in Amazon Valley Picture Jasper,
one Snowflake Obsidian and a Hawks eye one (blue tigers eye)
I mailed her the rock for that one. i will post a photo of it later
( it wont look near as good as it does in person)
I even made little boxes for them

Very nice looking picks but I expect them to get really slippery in sweaty hands??

How about the tone they produce?
I'd expect a mellow, warm tone with a good amount of overtones?

Stiff picks are cool, they provide way more control (once you've learned to use them).

I use .88 teardrop Dunlop Tortex (green)
