Ever since I read the title of this thread, the song by ELO of the same name has been going through my head-it's also one of my favourite songs and certainly one of the best that Jeff Lynne has sang and written-thanks for the excellent earworm.

"Well, I wonder which song they're gonna play when we go? I hope it's something quiet and minor and peaceful and slow."

Even though the song is a bit played out, this opening line always grabs me. It's so rich in the way it communicates a feeling and a place, but so simple. It sticks with me all day every time I hear it. Lots of great fender tones in this band's work, too.

OK- ''new'' one stuck inside this head: Ian Hunter - Old Records Never Die
Nice & sad - emotional guitar ''riff''
Quote:
Sometimes you realize
That there is an end to life.
Yesterday I heard them say
A hero's blown away.
And it's so hard to lose
Someone who's close to you.
Oh me I did not see
The danger every day.
But music's something in the air
So he can play it anywhere.
Old records never die.
