So a few days ago I noticed a nice new kurt cobain mustang (in the blue with the comp stripe) was on clearance for 699 at the sam ash up the road from me.... I went back in tonight to hopefully put a couple hundred on it (like a lay-away, they do this) but when i asked about it and he scanned it, it came up at the regular price of 999.
so the manager said he'd honor the price til closing time but tomorrow it's back to the regular price, and i didn't have the money today (which was why i wanted to get it on hold)
so.... yep. screwed myself. should've just waited til i had the money in a couple of weeks, but then it probably would've been gone already. darn me!
also the manager dude said he thought the corporate office was kind of yo-yoing the price on these to try to move more of them..... so i'm wondering, just how huge is the markup on fender guitars? anyone have any idea what music stores really pay for brand new fenders?

They pay about 1/2 of what they are being sold for.
