Ok folks.

I am sure there are some older threads on this age old topic. Since most of us are male, we can relate to this. As some of you might know. I am fairly new on this great message board. I love my MIM Telecaster. My playing has improved a bit too since I got this guitar last November of 2011.

Most of all, I am newly wed to a wife I love. We have disagreements like most married couples do . . . . but the latest thing she told me was this . . . . "you love your guitar more than you love me!"

Last night I took care of that by spending more time with her and giving her lots of attention. Most of all, she was happy to know a made a tune about her.

I know sometimes men can get so focused in their hobbies . . . perhaps restoring an old muscle car . . . . to even playing the guitar . . . . but in the end . . . . we forget about thte special lady in our life who makes our happiness possible.

It is true, when my hands are on the guitar, I just don't want to let go.
Do any of you go through this with your significant other?

Frankly, even as long as I have been married, when I get my hands on my WIFE, I don't want to let go.

Once you've been married for a while (or longer) your wife will be happy to have you go into another room and mess with your guitar - trust me.

When I met my wife, she was auditioning to join a cover band I started. We have played together ever since. She is a vocalist and also one hell of a keyboard/piano player. I mean really good. She's more of a musician than I am and plays her instrument just as much or more. Marry a musician, they understand.

eventually they get used to it and they give you a place to be alone with your other mistress
One thing that helped me and the ball and chain, is to simply dedicate a certain amount of time during the day that we BOTH do our own thing. while the wife reads her novels I play guitar ( in another room of coarse):lol:
I actually started bugging her while she was reading to help her realize how annoying she was when I was playing guitar.

also you need a hobby that you both enjoy that you can share! (not just sex....that slows down after a while anyways ) something like crafts, softball, shopping, drugs or whatever you guys like.
me and my wife do Jigsaw puzzles and a good friend of mine and her husband smoke pot together the key is having something that sparks conversation

Well, it seems I made a lucky catch!

My wife has 100% understanding for my love for guitars and playing them.
If I haven't played for two days, it's HER(!!) who says "I'm suffering from abstinence! Go rock the house!"

We've been married for almost 4 MONTHS!

She knows every of my guitars by name and recognizes the sound without looking!
"That's Moby!", "That's Buddy", "That's your Firebird!" and so on...

I'm a lucky devil, I think!

Don't get me wrong folks . . . I love my wife . . . and I am mega affectionate . Being new to the guitar . . . I just learned how to sing and play some basic songs (stand by me be Ben E. King) - - - - and sometimes my wife sings with me too. So I try to incorporate her in the hobby.

Not as slow as Sting and his tantric though, last I heard it takes him about a fortnight and a half

i have been playing guitar for 52 years
i have been married for 29 years

because of our different work schedules, i play when she is at work. our time together is spent doing things we enjoy- car shows, concerts, spending time with the grandkids.

it's all about balance

I have to put the female perspective in this thread..Ive been married for 31 years..I have to say my hubby is GLAD when Im in another room playing...hahaha..like some of the others said down the road you will both appreciate the space..Since my hubbys unfortunate ladder disaster this week we have both decided my playing will probably keep us from killing each other!..He is in one room napping and recovering I am in another!
