Yeah the update does look pretty much the same as before, BUT under the hood there are some pretty cool changes like my "favourite" and very usefull - DO NOT DISTURB MODE and VIP EMAIL. Oh and also PANORAMA photos are incredibly easy to do now too.

Also like the answer without sliding lock now, app updates without needing to enter p/w, Siri's turn by turn directions, privacy mode, iCloud with free space for shared photo streams...

Seeing all those lines out there is crazy - people waiting for the stores to open and hoping they get a 5 before stores run out!

I have a iphone4. I barely get any benefits from the new update. Also that do not disturb option doesn't work. I had it on and guess what the phone still rang! Facebook integration is nice, and not having to type my pw each time I download an app is nice too.

So far that's the only actual benefit I have found. The rest seems like window dressing to me.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

This is the day for updating - a bit late , no hurry. My iPhone 4S & iPad II now runs on ''steroids'' :?:  iOS6 . All apps updated . My MacBook Pro has got OSX 10.8.2 . Ready to GO!! Haven't had the time to try it out properly , but seems all right - all of the updates . My iMac is still running Lion - been a bit afraid of updating - as it flows perfect with my Logic 9. Have to check for driver- and program-compability. Plans for some music making tonight ,and I don't want to sit there wondering ''what happened?'' if the sound card doesn't work ! Tried that once before :( so maybe an upgrade after the sessions....

From WSJ article on iOS 6:

"a 10X speed increase over 3G even without WiFi and is faster than most home user's computers."

Impressive. Still it suddenly shut down the connection to FB - after transmitting one pic the new way , the two others had to go by mail :-(
And - I have checked out the drivers updates for my audio interfaces. I've got two of them - none had the drivers yet , so I keep my iMac on Lion for a while

That was also a great OS :D OK - feeling a bit spoilt right now -as you tell - but equipment and gear is what I have spent my money on , at least the last years . Not so many upgrades to wardrobe and house  BTW - that hasn't got me rich - yet

A few great new apps I'd like to share:

Synthmate - free (for awhile) for iPad

Echo Pad - looper for iPhone/iPad

Gestrument - very cool sounds by 'gesturing' fingers for iPad

SoundSlater - for iPhone (one click record)

AudioShare - allows copy & paste within all iOS apps

...and follow this blog for all of the newest apps:
http://smitematter.com/

Also Yonac Software has a bunch of cool apps (Theremin, Slide Guitar, Guitar Synth/Shredder, etc)

A friend of mine, Tim Sanders, works for The Discovery Channel when not making, writing, playing or recording music - - and he put together this short video on what he calls his "mobile recording rig" - -

..and here's one of his original tunes he recorded with it:

I have an Eventide H9 pedal being delivered tomorrow. I'll need to get an IOS device to control it onstage. I'm thinking of an Ipod Touch. It will be my first Apple product since my daughter bought me an old Ipod about 5 years ago that's really nothing more than an mp3 player. Anyway, I guess I'm going to join the future.
