Intended to be fun. Let the banter roll!

Has anyone else used a guitar pick to dislodge food from their teeth? Clean fingernails?

What have you used a pick for?

I once used thin slices of a plectrum to temporarily shim an acoustic saddle I'd shaved down too far because it was a Sunday and I couldn't get a new saddle until Monday.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

My neighbor uses some of my used guitar strings to remove auto glass ..I too often wondered if people had "unusual" uses for picks and strings..lol..I use old picks on the rare occasion I actually have them long enough to be old as a tiny pan scraper when doing dishes..haha!
This thread should be fun to follow! or frightning!

SBD's uses for a guitar pick:

Prying up guitar knobs
removing suction cups in aquarium
removing batteries
wedging under resistors to raise them from the pcb
popping open ipods cell phones and other electronics
scraping gum off of my shoe
Placing under a chair leg to prevent wobble
Cutting open boxes
cut down to use as a replacement nylon washer
tooth pick
nail cleaner
emergency scoop,( mixing powder chemicals and cleaners)
small Putty knife, ( bondo/ epoxy)
scraping adhesive off of hard surfaces
Decorating the bottom of the washing machine and inside of the dryer
And Many Many more MacGyver type situations

breaking the thick foil seal on some medicine bottles
opening stubborn pill blister packs
filling a leaky gap in an oak bucket
separating glue joint on RC car tires
removing the first inch of the rubber seal band on a window screen
removing stubborn stickers from the backing paper
and my favorite "Target practice"
you stick them in the grain on a log and pick them off with a 22 at 100 yards. loads of fun.

never thought about it before now but in a few days i could probably list 100 things i have used these for

Banter? Banter only exists because some people can't handle the craic.

I use guitar strings to poke clean desoldering tips. I also use them to separate a touch screen from a display.

I too decor... er... condition my picks inside the dryer.

My first guitar was an Alvarez acoustic that I bought used at a hock shop. I was learning to play and about a month into it. One afternoon after work I picked up the guitar to practice and heard something loose inside and thought I must have dropped a pick into the body. I turned it up and shook it real good and out fell a rattlesnake rattler. I almost soiled my drawers. I found out some time later the guy who had owned the guitar previously had heard the old timers say that a rattlesnake rattler in the body makes the music sound much sweeter.
