Hi all, trying to figure re-sale value for the above mentioned '95-'96 Am Std. Strat, serial # N523658. Prices vary widely on ebay. It's 2 color s/b, all stock with normal wear. 1 small ding on upper bout edge, not visible from front. And it's got that little red and silver 50th sticker on back of headstock. Do I have something special here, or just a run of the mill American Standard Strat? Thanks!

Hello Palomino1, a pic, or pics if possible, would help greatly.

There is a quick guide to posting photos by a Forum member I haven't found it yet. If anyone finds it please post. I'll keep looking :D

You have to upload you pics to a web based file storage site. Most folks here use PhotoBucket but there are other options. If the site where you store your pics supports remote linking (Photobucket does) then you can use the "Img" button in the Reply dialogue box and place the address for your pic between the brackets. See below. If the site does not support remote linking then you would use the "URL" button and your link would show up as a line of red text.

OK. So now that you have your pics on PhotoBucket you can make the pics show up right inside your post rather than making people link to them. Make sure you Photobucket page is open to your album and then let your mouse hover over each pic but don't click. A small menu will appear. Roll the mouse down to "IMG code" and click. Then go to the reply box here on the forum an inside the main panel where you type your text, right click and select paste. You have to do this one at a time for each pic. Word to the wise: make sure the pics are not bigger than the screen. The forum will not shrink them to fit. Also people will get testy about it.

That's plenty large. I wouldn't make them any bigger than that. I like to leave an empty space between each entry in the reply box to separate the pics from each other with a line of empty space but you've pretty much got it licked now. You might think about using a camera with better resolution. The pics are kinda blurry. As far as making them smaller, if you're using Windows you can use the Windows Picture Manager to crop out unneccessary stuff and resize them to a smaller format fairly easily. When resizing make sure you pay attention to the "percent" area. Picture Manager will fit the pics to the window but that doesn't mean you're looking at the actual size unless it says 100%. You should do this before you upload them to PhotoBucket as resizing them within PhotoBucket is painfully slow.

About your guitar, I don't believe there's an awful lot of additional value in the '96 anniversary sticker. It was the anniversary of Fender, not the Strat and a whole lot of products from that year came with the sticker. I've seen plenty of '96 Fenders with the sticker missing. I suspect not many people consider it to be very important. It's entirely possible Fender didn't consider it to be very important or they likely would have done something a little more permanent than a sticker that can be peeled off.

Thank you very much for all the help! I suspected that the guitar wasn't all that special but wanted to be sure before listing it for sale. This forum is a great resource and it's appreciated. 8)

You're very welcome.
Glad I could help.

Hopefully someone else will weigh in here and either confirm or deny my thoughts about your guitar.

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the Forum.
