We the folk of Winnipeg are particularly enthralled by the lockout, having just gotten a team again. :? It is going to be a very cold, boring winter.

Store clerks and bar/restaurant owners are going to be feeling it, as well. I feel for those who rely on NHL games to attract customers.

The whole situation is a huge let down. It's Millionaires vs. Billionaires - can there really be a loser?

Those who will lose will be the people whose jobs are affected by a lack of hockey, especially arena workers--as well as what Toranado mentioned--businesses that benefit from the people a hockey game pulls in.

These people will see their hours (and therefore income) reduced, or they may lose their jobs as they won't be needed to work.

That's who loses.

But the owners & the NHLPA are the Losers in a different way.

Cool video. I'm done with NHL hockey after this lockout. Millionaires fighting millionaires over how to split 3.3 billion dollars...

I'm not happy about this to be honest, was keen for seeing the Flames miss the playoffs again

But this really isn't going to help hockey break into the domination of Football, Baseball and Basketball in the US, shooting themselves in the foot here I think.

The Unions will ruin all sports. If the players are so unhappy only making the few millions tey do they should put up half a billion dollars and buy a team. Its the fan and the local business that get screwed always.

I didn't technically absolutely quit watching after the last one but I did lose interest. I have actually watched a handfull of games, all playoff games, since that last lockout but I only watch them because I'm with people who are watching them. Somebody's house, a pub, etc. Thing is, the loss of interest kind of spilled over into other sports as well and I rarely watch football or baseball anymore either. I'll watch a few games but I no longer follow anything. I blame Bettman for that. He's a blanking blankole. I have no idea how he still holds that job. I always thought that position was supposed to be held by someone intelligent who would always do what's best for the game but since he started there have been three of these fiascos but yet there was never even a single stutter in all the decades before his rule. He's not just hurting the game of hockey, he's hurting all professional sports.

tb, unions are not responsible for this. It entirely Bettman's fault. 100%

Big hockey fan (Boston based so, Bruins fan here)

I'm very disappointed they couldn't figure this out, but hopefully they can figure it out in a few weeks.

same here BMW. i'll watch a few games here and there but the interest is gone. hell, i played the game on rollerblades after the stars moved to Dallas. me and the wife fell in love with hockey. great, great game.
the comment about the fans and businesses being hurt is so true. i doubt that even croosses thier minds. i work and live minutes from where the cowboys and the rangers play. love or hate jerry jones, that stadium brings tons of people into the area and all those businesses thrive because of it.
greed. plain and simple. my opinion of course.

An opinion share by many I would suspect.

Bettman actually used to be among the big cheese of the NBA, prior to switching to the NHL. This means that hockey may not even be particularly important to him, as long as he has a position of high power.

While I entirely agree that Bettman has what's coming to him one day, the fact here is that there is always a bigger fish. Bettman is the puppet of the owners of the NHL. He'll do exactly as they say, and appear as mean and intimidating as possible while doing it - because that's what he's paid to do. He's the owners' bi---, basically. He makes his cool 8 mill a year by having hate diverted to him only.
