of GAS.

Over the past month, I've taken home 2 great guitars, and while I was with my great uncle today, a Fender Telecaster he has for sale came up when I asked if he could teach me to refret on my own. Anyways, he's got a decent price on it, so I'm considering.

I'm going to die because of this "Gotta catch em all!" attitude.

Welcome to the club!

The funny thing is:
Having bought all these guitars recently didn't make me happier than when I had just 2 of them!

In fact, I play less and compare more!
I loose myself in picking up one after the other to compare them, just to find out they're all great and each one of them has it's own soul in sound and feel.

OK:

1. Noticing it was a good first step!
2. Thinking about it was an important second step.
3.Coming to the enlightment of not being happy about it was step 3.
4. Deciding, that something has to change was step 4.
5. Selling my American Lone Star was step 5.
6. Step 6 was where I got stuck at first!
7. Step 7 was the very hard decision to at least sell my vintage Ibanezes which are not played at all. I took the photographs today. :(
8. Step 8 throws me back to step 6! :(

I'm still fighting with myself!

In fact, I envy guitar players who just have ONE(!!) guitar. They love it, they play it every day...

After reading this: do you think I'm in danger of actually escaping GAS or is it just a normal fluctuation and I'll end up buying twice as much as I have sold???

I think, I need professional help!

You'll be fine. I didn't go down to ONE guitar but I did cull my inventory quite heavily and I'm happy with what I have. Deciding which ones have to go is the easy part. They're the ones you hardly ever play. Think of the eager young players out there who wish they had you guitar but could never afford a new one but USED well that's within reach. You'd be sending it to a good home where it will be loved and cared for and played every day.

Actually THAT'S my most difficult part. I play'em all frequently. The ones I hardly played are gone already. :(

I'm really considering it, especially if it's USA made.

Everybody has a little bit of GAS, I think. They just don't know it yet.

Yep. I get it from both sides, guitars and camera gear. I just dropped three grand on a new camera body, Nikon D800 plus another $1,200 in goodies for it. I guess I'm done with guitars for a little while although Martin just came out with a Performing Artist 12 stringer. The camera gear is for my business but I can't help but think what kind of guitar or amp I could have gotten for that much coin..........

Variety is the spice of life.

Every guitar is different, especially when they are different brands.

Of the few guitars I have sold... I wish now I hadn't sold them.

Catchy title
A Fender Telecaster for sale? I'm a great great uncle, your Great Uncle must be very proud of you James. If you like the Telecaster and you can comfortably make the purchase, I can't think of a better solid body electric guitar to play. Gas is contagious, as a Fender Lounge Forum member you must feel as windy as the rest of us
