Although I am living in Texas, I was born in raised in Idaho. Here's what Wiki says:

"Idaho has produced a number of musicians and bands, including pop star Paul Revere and Doug Martsch of Built to Spill. Nikki Sixx (bassist of glam metal band Mötley Crüe) grew up in Jerome, Idaho. Moscow, Idaho is also the home town of modern folk/country/indie songwriter Josh Ritter. Rosalie Sorrels is also a renowned folk singer as well as Lee Penn Sky, and Norm Weinstein is a prominent critic known in the jazz world."

And one more from my hometown:

"Steve Isham's humble beginnings in Pocatello eventually led him to the band Autograph and the hit song "Turn Up the Radio."

"The keyboardist joined up with Gary Moon, who later replaced Jack Blades in the band Night Ranger to form The Pack, and he later went on to tour as the drummer for Vince Neil's solo act. Remaining active in the music business throughout the ensuing years, Isham passed away on December 9, 2008 at the age of 56 after battling liver cancer."

From NY.

Since I played with Ace Frehley before he was famous (we are both from the Bronx) and after let me start with:
Kiss
Eddie Money
Blondie
The Dictators (partied with most of them, had a woman in common with one of them)
Twisted Sister
Vanilla Fudge, so 2/3's of Beck Bogert and Appice too.

That's enough for my brain.
Not sure who was native or came to the Village to start.

Cool thread.

I spend most of my time in London, so I guess my list of bands which formed here should include The Clash, Cream (plus the Yardbirds and Blues Breakers and most of the other spin-off and associated bands), Coldplay, Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac, Iron Maiden, The Jam, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, King Crimson, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Motörhead, The Police, Procol Harum, Prodigy, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols, Small Faces, Status Quo, T. Rex, The Who and Yes

The list of guitarists who were born in London is pretty long too and includes the likes of John Renbourn, Pete Townshend, Bernard Butler, Ron Wood, The Edge, Slash, Jeff Beck, Sam Totman, Jimmy Page - and more!

Well, I'm from Alaska, and we don't have a lot... Jewel, 36 Crazyfists, Lincoln Brewster, Portugal the Man, and that's all that I can think of.

Mariah was working out of a studio I was on Long Island (mid '80'ish.) She never gave the guy props when she took off. Such is life. Thanks for filling in my less than complete list.
I learned some new things.
