I thought some of his posts were weird, but I never read anything ban worthy.

Well, I went through his posts for the past week or so. That was a big job. He does a lot of posting. I read them all in context to be sure I was getting the true picture. The only recent thread I found in which he was being a bit of a jerk was an NAD thread here in the lounge. In his defense, he was provoked. A number of members were getting on his case about too much posting, which to me is neither here nor there. There are no rules about post count. He was not the first one to utter a nasty word in that thread but he did appear to lose control over his emotions and his words after being provoked and he did say some unfortunate things. I had not read that thread before and it was in fact the first time I had seen anything nasty by him and it took me a little by surprise.

IMO, there have been others who did worse and are more deserving of a sound banning. Particularly some of the newbs. There should be a mandatory probation period for newbs, say 1000 posts, in which they may be discharged at the first sign of trouble. Further, I don't like the idea that if I click on the exclamation point and someone has already reported the post that I no longer have any recourse. I don't care so much about voicing my concern if someone else has already done so but the site should keep a tally of how many people tried to report it and return a dialog box saying "You are the 27th member to report this thread" or some such. I feel certain we could get rid of some of the other undesirables if there were such a feature.

I was starting to think that it was just me getting lost in translation, I felt that alot of his posts were kind of on the "d#$%-ish" side but I have seen worse.

Well he sure liked to POST a lot!
But we have a few of those type anyway that like to flap their gums for no other reason than hearing themselves.
I think most of us just ignore them. Though it has impacted the Forum having to sift through these types.

The other Forums have these types too so it isn't just this one.

Unfortunately, there is nothing to prevent them coming back under a different guise.

Yah I missed that one. You're right. That was a little scary. OK, I guess he deserved it. I still say he's not the only one, though.

Honestly, from the moderator seat you just can't win in scenarios like this. You leave the individual free to post daily and then you're receiving daily complaints from numerous users about his posting antics and complaints of "why something isn't being done"; you ban the individual and then you have folks questioning the decision. In my own review while I didn't find any one specific "dark" moment there's definitely a general theme there that a LOT of discussions appear to end up with insults being hurled and while each scenario can be dissected individually the fact is that there's one name consistently appearing throughout all of them.

After a review of recent postings, user "Toppscore" has been banned from further participation here.

Hi Brad,

Apologies for my rather direct interactions with Toppscore (which from your post I take it you’ve seen). Looking back, I could and should have acted in keeping with the Forums friendly vibe and called him out in a more polite manner. Even better, just ignored him.

I didn’t feel it was worth reporting, and honestly thought a firmer hand may turn things around… kind of back fired. My bad. I now see several other users had already tried to get him on-board.

I really wasn't expecting anyone to get banned (which is pretty hard to do round here due to the vast majority of users being thoroughly nice people.), but then I was unaware just how far things had already developed behind the scenes. I can see your decision to ban is for the the best in the long run.

I promise to be on my best behavior in future.

For what its worth, I'd freak out if someone minus me 50 points too. Points are pretty hard to come by these days. :D

Brad I don't question your decision, I was just a little surprised. looking back at some things brought forward, I see how some can find him a bit unruly. he seems to gag on his toes quite often..... but I just never noticed :? there are allot of toe biters here and they all tend to run together  Oh well 3 down 50+ more to go

I don't know much about Toppscore and don't know if he deserved getting banned. Maybe he did maybe he didn't.

What i will say is this: this crybaby going behind people's backs and reporting them to the teacher (Brad) is a bit rich. If you don't like someone then don't read or respond to their posts, simple as that really. Don't enter into it with them.

This kind of warped thinking ultimately leads to a forum where it's a clique of backpatters all stroking each others egos and telling each other how great they are.

Real life is not like that and you're gonna meet opinions and ideas on here you don't like and don't agree with. What are you gonna do? report them all to Brad so they get banned?

Other forums people argue all the time about things and a lot worse than on here. No one ever gets banned usually and there's usually very little trouble.

I'm sure Brad's got enough to do without babysitting this forum. :P

I can see how you might think I was questioning your call. Mostly I was just surprised by it because I had not seen that kind of behavior from him. I did not intend to sound like I was arguing with your decision. Mostly I was surpised that you would have recieved that many complaints when I felt others had been as bad or worse. Obviously, I did not see all of his posts. I see others mentioning he was a trouble maker in the Strat section as well which is a place I don't frequent as much. You're the boss, Brad. Do as you see fit. We are all guests here in Fender's Forum.
