I like that Fender Guitar Care Kit by Meguiars but it seems to no longer be available. Has it been re-branded? Is it available through Meguiars regular auto porducts line? Any info appreciated.

Thanks

Fender polish by Meguiars, cloth, picks in a cool tin.
These go for about $30 but here's one on ebay for $9.99

The one in the black box with the different cleaners, polishes, sponges, and cloths? My girl got me that for Christmas a few years back. It was awesome. That stinks if it's no longer around. I was just thinking the other day how I should get more supplies. :?

I use a couple of Meguiars automotive polish and cleaning products on my guitars. I like them, but I've never seen that kit.

Not sure if this is the one the OP is talking about, but it's the one my girl got me. It was awesome. Still have the polishes. Just ran out of the mist and wipe and the other spray, and went through the rags and sponges. If you really try to keep your instruments in "show" condition it's a really great place to start.

I have used Meguiar's Cleaner Wax on my basses for many years (at least ten years) with great results. It cleans gunk off your axe, and slicks up your finish. It protects, but doesn't leave any waxy build up. Gives my '76 Precision a very nice high-gloss shine. Works on chrome too. The very antithesis of relic.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks boxbang but that's not the one I;m talking about - the one in the other posts is the stuff I like.

CRGuitarMan: Exactly which one do you use?

moochy13: Son, if your fans are spitting at your guitar, I don't think that's adoration. :)

I have been using Meguiar's 50 Cleaner / Wax One Step, which is a wax, but it also has a tiny bit of rubbing compound in there, too. I used this to excellent effect on a Yamaha AES 620 guitar that had a lot of pick marks below the strings. I did about 12 industrious applications, each time removing more of the pick marks and polishing the finish, doing absolutely no harm to the guitar's clearcoat. When I was done, about 90% of the pick marks were gone and the guitar just gleamed.

When it comes to cleaning amps with Tolex, I have been using this product - Meguiar's 57 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner & Protectant. I have a lot of amps, many bought used, and this stuff takes them from grungy to gorgeous in one good application - tooth brush in the corners, good cotton cloth for a rag. Wipe it on, let it sit, wipe off the excess and that amp will look like new.

I buy both of these products at Menard's.

Hey dude, I've got that kit and all I use is the mist wipe bottle, i used the others on some nice guitars i used to have but now i'm down to just my beater, and it doesn't get cleaned. only misted and wiped when i'm changing strings.
anyway, i'd be happy to send you the rest of this stuff, the polish ,etc. - just cover the postage... ummm.... maybe there's prepaid postage? i'm not sure. let me know if you're interested, it's just taking up space in one of my many parts boxes. :)
