I'm thinking about buying this to help me learn my way around the fretboard. What do you think? Is it a worthy purchase or am I better off just having a book with a fret map in it and memorizing it that way?

If you've used these before, how much do they affect the fretboard's playability?

Thanks!

True. I'm just concerned about wasting 10 bucks if it reduces playability.

Since Musicians Friend is owned by Guitar Center, you can probably go to GC and find the book there and take a good look at it to see if it fits your needs. MF and GC carry the same stock.

Eh, the nearest GC is in Pensacola, and that's an hour away. I'm not sure if i'm willing to drive that far for a 10 dollar purchase. I suppose i'll ask my instructor tomorrow during my lesson.

Seemed like it would be a cool little purchase, so I wanted to see if anyone here uses them or had used them before.

I've been playing non-seriously for about 2 years. I'm a novice at best.

Stickers on the fretboard? I wouldn't. Send me your e-mail or fax# and I will send you a one page map of every note on the board. Don't goop up your fretboard with stickers :x

Try Google, there are plenty of websites and some free programs for that info.
