I live in a small place and evidently I'm angering some of my neighbors.

I'm looking for a solution that would be cheap and sectional so I can put it up and take it down within a few minutes.

Thanks.

Can't you use headphones? That's how I practice because my wife loves my guitar playing as long as she doesn't have to hear it. :(

If not, you first have to isolate the amp from the floor because the floor will transfer all sound around anything you put in front of the speakers.

i had a marshall 50watt jcm800 w/ 4x12 in an apartment. i never had a complaint from the neighbors......could have been those firearms that i had as well. who's to say? hou-tex your in texas, maybe just move to a nice rural area. just don't scare off those nice deer you guys have there. on a serious note maybe some accustical foam on some type of ply wood with some bracing or some hinges so it can be folded. +1 on the amp to floor isolation.

I stack pillows in front of my amps if I want to damper. Depending on how loud you're actually playing, you might need an assload of pillows.

Headphones are way to go. As loud as you like and no complaining neighbors or family members.

Obtain a small, cheap, sectional one that does.

Build or buy (Jet City comes to mind) a sound proof box to put your amp in.

Not quite a box to put your amp in but pretty close, an iso box;

Insulate your amp from the floor and lower the bass on your EQ. The low frequencies are the ones that penetrate the walls and ceilings the most. If you're just practicing you don't need your normal full range tone. Using an amp stand will help insulate the amp but even better is to place a foamy under it. You can also hang fabrics or rugs on the walls. They will reduce the room's natural reverb which may not be desirable for your tone but they will also absorb some of the sound. These are ways to start but they may not be enough. You may want to get yourself a preamp with a headphone out jack.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

The amp is on an amp stand and I have added some isolators between the amp and the stand, but I just added an additional speaker box and unfortunately had it on the floor leaning back against the stand. And I was thinking the same thing today, so I brought home some 1" thick foam and just put it underneath the external speaker cab and actually think it sounds better now. Maybe the floor isn't soaking up the resonance of the cab now.

At the wall nearest the open backed cabinets, I have a 2'x4' acoustical ceiling tile backed up with a folding table behind it. But I don't think that's the neighbor that is complaining. I may look at some foam insulation this weekend and maybe cover it with some indoor/carpeting for the other wall.

And of course, I can always pick up a Fender Frontman 10 and use that.

Or the Weber box thing and use phones.

You can put all the foam insulation and acoustical tile in the room you want and they will do nothing to stop the low frequencies from penetrating the walls and floors. The wavelenghs are just too long and you can't absorb them.

You are on the right track, however in trying to isolate the amp from the floor. I use these under my combo amps that sit on a wooden cabinet. It prevents vibrations from transmitting through to the cabinet.

This also does a good jub for combos or cabs that sit on the floor:

Not sure if this is of any interest to you, but I just plug into my multi fx pedal with headphones. I got it for that reason only, as I use analog stomps with my amp. It does allow me to practice at night when the family is asleep, or otherwise. You may not get the same tone, but you can practice without disturbing the neighbors. Or perhaps even a small mixer console with headphone out.
