Golden Earring are still going great and are doing their entire shows on acoustic guitars. Savoy Brown is still rocking it out after 40 years. Ten Years After is still playing but without Alvin Lee,granted the youngish guy they have trying to fill Alvin's shoes is extremely good, without Alvin they just can't cut it.Wishbone Ash is also playing but not with the original Powell,Turner,Turner,Upton line-up. They aren't really Wishbone Ash without the original lineup.I can't see Phoenix or Blindeye being done by anyone but the original lineup-they own it.
Up until just last year Scorpions was still going strong but they had their absolute final tour last summer and fall-pity.

Van Halen's "A Different Kind of Truth" is a huge comeback, almost. No "real" hits, but the album is selling good. Health problems are hurting that band. Eddie has had intestinal tract problems of some kind, plus his alcoholism. Dave kept his jacket buttoned to the top the whole time. Could've had a heart attack, maybe. They sounded great live IMO, even with Dave being kinda grumpy. The truth hurts!

Your welcome to your opinion.....Mine is the groovy funk John and Flea came up with was some of the "feeliest"...Now there's a word 8) ......Music ever produced. Cover the above bands and sound sh** hot... no mean feat! especially Aeroglam!!.....Lots do it though  ..........Cover the Chilli's and rock it like John and flea.....Good luck to ya mate.... 8)

Heres just some reasons why the Chilli's hold the publics regard "New young listeners too" where others are for the most part long gone....

Then as if 20 years of killing it was not enough along comes Stadium Arcadium.....

The album was critically praised for integrating musical styles from several aspects of the band's career.[2][3] The album gained the band seven Grammy Award nominations in 2007 including an award for Best Rock Album and one for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package. Winning 5 out of 7 Grammy Awards, it was the most nominations that the band had garnered in their 28-year career. Stadium Arcadium sold 442,000 copies in the United States in its first week and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 making it the band's first number one debut in their career.[14] In Canada, the double album debuted at #1 on the Canadian Albums Chart, selling 64,000 copies in its first week.[15]
"Dani California" spent fourteen weeks at number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart and is one of three songs in the history of the chart to debut at number one

Then even losing John.....they do it again........

I'm With You is the tenth studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. The album was released by Warner Bros. Records on August 29, 2011, a day earlier than originally planned.[4][5][6] The album made its debut at number one in eighteen different countries including the United Kingdom while reaching number two in the United States and Canada.

Not just my opinion.....Red Hot Chilli Peppers have rocked though the ages stronger than any band......No band can even pick up a candle let alone hold one to these guys for endurance of fresh rock n roll hits........ Flea and Johns grooves are a timeless masterclass for the world of rock n roll....Game... set and match..... 8)

So OZRV, we get it, you are a HUGE HUGE Chilli P Fan. I personaly don't think their music hits the high notes like they used to. Yes they still sound like Chilli Peppers but their songs, for me, are not as good as they were 10yrs ago. Theres no denying their stage presence is probably as good as it has always been, but I am not totaly convinced that they are still all that.

That being said they are due to tour here in South Africa next February and their 2 show concert sold out in about 40 minutes last week. So I guess plenty people still love them. But U2 are probably even more of an example of bands still strutting their stuff and making hits in our current time. I hope all good bands keep at it even if it doesn't cut the grade for "Top Of The Pops".

I love Pink floyd.....But the nature of the thread was "still producing' music widely being embraced.... :?

And Foo fighters or Radiohead in the same breath as RHCP or any of the bands that have made a huge dent in history.....Sorry i cant swallow it..... :|

Maybe they are not Pink Floyd as we knew it, but David Gilmour and Roger Waters still go on, and are still relevent. Check out DG On an Island...So I think qualifies as still producing music, and still Rocking. Also even though not newly produced, RW The Wall tour has been going strong for at least 2 yeears now, with a very relevent message just as it was when released.

As an Aussie, you must know the work of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

ImageImage

I'm not really sure when their heyday was, or if it's happened yet, but I do know that they've averaged an album every two years for almost 30 years.

Nick Cave's music was never particularly relevant, therefore it never became irrelevant.

Goodonya ...Mark.

Bands that are still producing "chart topping hits" 20 years plus into their careers? Just off the top of my head...

U2
Bon Jovi (ugh)
Metallica
Elton John
Pearl Jam
Sheryl Crow
Dave Matthews Band
Madonna (double ugh)

And if you start to look at artists who are into their third (or fourth or fifth) decades producing quality, relevant music, I think that's a pretty big list!

I think it's actually on the charts here. It's revived their career and Coles are super happy,
pretty catchy  Interesting custom guitars.
