So for those that dont know, I went in to the hospital a week ago to get some BTX A injected into selected muscles of my right hand and foot to temporarily treat my condition, again.
For my arm and hand, I got it injected in my bicep, my wrist, and my thumb this time. Honestly, do not notice any difference with my bicep and wrist. They're still extremely tight and incredibly uncomfortable. My thumb, is worse than it was. It's doing excatly what I dont want it to do. It already was contracting pretty badly, but now it's pretty much doing it as soon as I even try to move any muscles in my right hand. I specifically told the doctors to diminish the tightness (pretty much what BTX A does) of those muscles that controll the contracting movement. Must have been a mistake or something, or it's just simply not working on me anymore. I really dont think it's worth it anymore. I'll have to find some other treatment, even though the doctors say there is none (yeah....right)

So my brand spankin' new resonator is just sitting there. I tried playing it tonight, with a pick and without. With a pick at this stage seems impossible, and without also seems impossible. But it is really good therapy if I do try to fingerpick, even if it does take me 2 hours to get through one bar.

Daagh! Damn stroke!!

Too bad, Riley....... Yeah , I remember about your difficulties - but I hadn't caught it was about a stroke ! I am in no position to give any advice , but , as you mention - fingerpicking on a reso is a good thing :D Guess your struggling with that can be useful training for coordination/muscles and so on . FIGHT ! There are many examples that the mind/will can make a big difference . Sending some mojo to you , as well :D I'll play a song on my reso -and blow it in southern direction :D

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Sending good mojo your way. Have you tried a thumb pick?

Strokes suck.
In every way imaginable.
I feel for you.

Yeah, I've tried a thumb pick. It's pretty useless considering my thumb is almost always in my palm now. I tried playing again this morning without a pick, and I can very slowly strum a couple of chords, in the morning atleast. It gets alot worse with fatigue. When I've just woken up is when my hand is at its best. Maybe cause the muscles or nerves are just waking up or something, I'm not sure. Thats a sign of improvement, I spose.

Hello Riley, good to see you're still rocking with or without a pick. How are you singing now? With backing tracks?
I picked up some southside mojo after a gig yesterday. Dropped off the gear there. Sending southside Chicago mojo your way little Brother, keep getting better.

Keep your chin up Riley, might seem bleak now but you never know what will happen. Plus you have age on your side, more and more treatments are discovered every year, one of these days might just be your day.

I'd tell you to keep on truckin' but I know you will anyway.

Mojo to you man.

Stay positive Riley. Study show that moods can help when fighting an illness. When you are in a positive mood your body makes hormones such as efetrine and dopamine that can help the body to repair itself. So stay strong Young'un.

Sending good vibes your way riley. I'm suffering as well, though nothing like what you are, with dystonia in the picking hand and muscles contract when they shouldn't and it causes the pick to twist and you have to keep regripping. A real pain in the butt

I'm trying to get these speed licks up to a flowing fast tempo and the faster i go the more prone it is to happen. It's very annoying. To get your picking up to warp speed is difficult with your hands working perfect, when there's a problem it's an even bigger challenge.

Man keep going, never give in to it.
