Nothing wrong with an eclectic look. Just be able to take the jibes that will most likely follow suite. I remember my high school was not the friendliest place with the nicest people attending.

So true. We had a handful of outlandish dressers who of course, did it purely for attention. They put up with more abuse than anything else. When one of the ridiculous dressed asked one of his taunters why the verbal abuse, said taunter responded, "You put up the billboard, I'm just answering the ad!"

To be honest I think everyone had their dissenting foes in school, the trick for me was to find as much common ground with as many others as I could, that was from the Jocks to the FFA kids to the punks, hippies, blue bloods.. I always wanted to have as many on my side when push came to shove. Having the FFA or Football jocks on my side when conflict arose was always a plus.
Luckily this also happened to be the kids who realized early on that an education was a step up to a better future not a prison sentence to be endured..... 8)

Did I get in fist fights.... :?: Absolutely but I knew very well that in any physical conflict both parties walk away hurting so unless it is inevitable...then a discussion to resolve the conflict was always my first goal....

I do it because everyone dresses so boring at my school. Most of them are really preppy and act snobby. It's more or less to loosen up. It's fun to be recognized though. Even though I dressed like this all last year, I was still known as "Red" or "Huge-ass-case-carrying-kid" or other guitar related names from my Telecaster. I had it with me 2-3 days a week.

No it was cheap wool....lite....
I am so tempted to post a couple of pics from those days, I just found a few and I have not stopped laughing in two days...

Lets see I can remember two pairs of crushed velvet pants one burgundy the other gold with zippers running down both legs from ankle to waist, got those in NYC..
Actually I still have my below the knees fringed moccasins that I bought after seeing Hendrix with them....Or was it Savoy Brown or Foghat... :?: :?
