Arnold Layne put down Robin Hood and his minstrel as a favourite scene.Unbeknownst to almost all but the most steadfast of Pythonphiles, the minstrel was none other than Neil Innes of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band and also who along with Python member Eric Idle formed the famous Rutles.Innes is an absolutely fabulous songwriter and musician and even when he was in the Bonzos he wrote several Lennonesque songs and sang them in a voice that was very much like John's own voice.

BTW:The Bonzos also have a Beatles tie-in,they appeared on The Magical Mystery Tour movie lip-syncing to one of their more bizarre -if that's possible-songs,called Death Cab For Cutie. Now the secret of how another famous band got their name is out of the bag.

Neil Innes also appeared in Monty Python At The Hollywood Bowl ,playing a song off his album of the same name,"How Sweet To Be An Idiot" and he also sang one of the Bonzo's more popular songs that he also wrote,"Urban Spaceman".He also sang "How Sweet To Be An Idiot" on the Python's Live At Drury Lane"album.Innes appeared in several of George Harrison's Handmade Films' movies as he and George had become good friends after George had pursuaded the other Beatles to let The Bonzos have a cameo appearance in The Magical Mystery movie.Innes also played the part of a trumpeting herald in Python Terry Gillam's absolutely hilarious Jabberwocky-a movie that was panned by all the humourless critics who didn't appreciate the madcap genius of Gillam and the Sad Sack love-lorn fool played by Michael Palin in the movie.

Note to all Python lovers: If you liked Gillams incredible and madly hilarious animations in the Monty Python series and movies, then you're bound to love Jabberwocky. It's available from CD Universe ( http://www.cduniverse.com/ ) for less than $15 and would be well worth it for double that.I believe that you can get it on Amazon too.

I love the Bonzos, and the various off shoots
I love the Rutles.
Neil Innes is a very talented musician, and a funny guy.

But I will disagree on Jabberwocky.

It had it's moments, and some funny scenes, but overall it was a letdown.

I did however enjoy the novelization--it was much funnier than the movie.
