At times threads like these evolve. The subject went awry when the bass ashtrays came into view. I'm going to order an ashtray for my Strat shortly.

Ox is up on the ashtrays. He did a top flight installation on his Jazz, and Precision. When you do your shorty, lots of pics so they see a good install job. Maybe relay to everyone how you installed it also. Image

To install ashtrays and pickup covers, you first have to have second, third and fourth thoughts, as to if you should do it. Drilling holes in instruments is not something to do hastily. i had the covers for a long time before they went on permanently.

I think the Strat covers slide on. I'm going to order one and see if there is a way to make it work. if it's bigger, that won't be a problem.

Anyone have that answer? I'd appreciate it.

As long as we are all dreaming, I wish Callaham made a ashtray cover for their bridge.

Yes Oxfan. They are bigger than the mexican trems.
They cost peanuts, so if you have a little ingenuity, just order one and go for it.
Goodonya ...Mark.

Edit- try some strips of Neoprene inside the cover. That should hold it on.

I "CUSTOM"-ized the ashtray for my 1992 Fender '62 Reissue Strat (MIA)...and no, it does not interfere with palm muting in the least. I don't palm mute that close to the bridge.

I notice a bit more sustain with the bridge plate/ashtray in place...maybe the added mass and the saddles being pushed together a bit more? :?

Looks good SA 8) ...and that's the whole point of them.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way re muting.

I put all gold on my MIM build, so it had to have an ashtray.

*Please note that I used a Deluxe Players strat body. It's one of the few MIM Strats that has a vintage spec bridge. I used a US trem in my build.

Goodonya ...Mark.

Looking great on both. Ashtrays "flick my Bic". Man, I'm showing my age.
