Change Change Change    [/b][/color]

If memory serves, I believe 2004 was the last year they called them Fat Strats and 2005 was the first year they called them HSS.

Gibson Gary Moore BFG.
Bought and sold rather quickly.
Don't think I owned it for more than 3 or 4 months.

Barely Finished Guitar.
The BFGs are a very small line of guitars built for folks who feel the glossy finish hinders the tone of the guitar. The guitars are not finish sanded, merely rough sanded, then stained and that's all the finishing they get. If you look closely at the pic you can see scallops on the maple top.

Thanks for the info.
Which large known guitar manufacturers ship the BFGs?

Interesting subject = Do your own finish.
Guess you could always do it, anyway, just harder.

The idea is to leave it unfinished. It's supposed to let the wood resonate more freely. Whether that is true or not is a subject of debate and I don't really want to morph this thread into a tone debate. This is a guitar porn thread. I bought the BFG guitar because it was an out-of-the-ordinary Les Paul with some interesting features. Study the pic for a minute. I'm sure you'll notice a few peculiarities. It was also reasonably inexpensive compared to most LPs. This was my first (and last) foray into the questionable world of ordering guitars online. I've learned my lesson.

What was wrong with the guitar?
No tremolo?
HS pickup configuration?

It was giving me slivers.
Really.
Tiny ones on the edge of my baby finger from the maple top.
I had no intention of spending any time or money to sand and refinish a guitar that was supposed to be unfinished.
