They were all my favorites at the time. How about a '62 Strat, a '67 Jazz, a '70 Precision, just like the one Roger Waters pulled off the wall. There are more too. Of course they're all gone.

Now I'm depressed again. :(

As well you should be! Now that I'm here, I'll mention the '72 Custom Telecaster. all were bought new with the exception of the '62 and '70 bought used. Back in the day, almost everybody went through a bunch of guitars and basses. There was a furniture store in a neighboring town that sold Fender, Gibson and Epiphone guitars. I could walk in and my pal would tell me to take whatever I was using to try for a couple days. Lol, i usually bought it.

We're not going to talk about the Gibsons and Epiphones.

I used to have a '74 Fireglo Rick 4001 back in the early 90's. It was sold for a fretless. Hey, I was 19.

I had an Alembic Essence around the same time. I thought it was stolen, so I traded even for a new American Standard Precision Bass. Turns out, it wasn't stolen. DoH! There are pics of this one online, but they aren't my pics..or my bass anymore. Painful to see them.

As for that American Standard...it was a fine bass. The thing about Fender is the heritage, though. Is there any loyalty to the Am. Std. series? Is there any one artist that has publicly announced his or her love for an Am. Std. Bass? Alot of the Fender company is tradition, which they're running out of. Yes, there's a whole page of endorsed artists...of bands I've never heard of.

So, your Fender's are one owner axes?
What is up with the Gibsons?

'74 Fireglo Rick 4001 - Alembic Essence :?: :?: :?: :?:
Gosh. I gotta get out of my Fender Cave.
What are those guitars?
Guessing the first one is a Rickenbacker?

This is a 2004 American Deluxe Fat Strat QMT. I have another AD Fat (a 1998) which I like a lot better so when it came time to lose one of them this one got the axe. It was the pickups, mostly, that was the reason I chose this one for the chopping block. The '98 has VNs which I feel are better than the SCNs in the '04. Unfortunately, this blurry pic is the best one I have.

To me, unusual Fat Strat with two controls and no pick-guard. Nice flame top.

I have a MIM Fat Strat, so this is my first Fender Fat Strat without a pickguard and 2 controls.

Nah. Fireglo Rick was a company from the 80's out of Japan. Their finishes aren't as good as the Americans, and the electronics are sub-par. Lots of bang for the buck, though.

Hopefully "Lots of Bang for the Buck" works.
Today I just purchased an ESP-LTD Baritone Guitar.
Low price, but I based a lot of my decision upon ESP & LTD's reputations.

Hopefully it will be great. Toppscore :)

Something else you may find unusual is that it also had a ebony board.
Not rosewood.
S1 switching as well but that's not so unusual.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

What is this/that?

That's a "K-Mart Special", also known as a waste of good plywood.

Bought it cheap years ago.
Hard to call it a real guitar.
When I got my classical I sold it for the same price I paid for it.
Never regretted it.

I don't know the actual brand name on it--didn't care at the time.
That's not me holding it, so I cropped the picture to show just the guitar.

Still called a Fat Strat?

Gosh, the "Fat Stra" name meant something ~ it had an identity.
Change Change Change
