Up till now, I've had an all tube Line 6 Spidervalve mkII 112 Amp with it's integrated shortboard which has been fine. Some of the onboard effects could be better, particularly the fuzz. Also, an old band is starting up again and we practice in a studio that already has a lot of high quality amps in house. Because the shortboard is integrated with my amp, in the past I've had to bring the whole kit and caboodle to practice which was a pain.

So I decided to put together my own pedal board. For two reasons:

1. To pick and choose from the best available effects (within budget).
2. To be able to bring the pedal board anywhere and use with any amp.

I then spent many hours on Youtube doing homework on what pedals I would get.

The first pedal I acquired was a couple of months and was a Seymour Duncan pickup booster. This is to give my Strat a bit more teeth, particularly with the bridge pickup. The great thing about this pedal is that it makes a single coil pickup sound like a humbucker. It also gives a humbucker equipped Guitar more clarity and resonance as well as extra boost if you need it.

The next pedal I got was an Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer which was always the pedal I wanted for overdrive. I just love it and it's very controllable.

Last week I got the 3rd pedal, a Jim Dunlop Fuzz Face. I just love the sounds you get from this pedal. The only downside to it is that it can only be powered by a 9v battery as there is no 9v power input.

At the moment, I'm using these three pedals in conjunction with the Line 6 shortboard so that I can still avail of the volume pedal, tuner, delay, tremelo and reverb from the amp. I've ordered a Boss BCB-60 Pedal board off Amazon which will have it's own power suppy (up to 7 pedals) as well as an onboard tuner. I will then add an Ernie Ball Volume pedal, an Electro Harmonix Micro Pog (an incredible pedal that makes your six string sound like a 12 string or 18 string) and a Boss digital delay. I will continue to use the reverb and tremolo onboard the amp.

AH, the world of pedals! That is some great new gear torresfan! A word of caution: stompboxes are very addicting.

I also enjoy lurking youtube demos even if I have no intention of getting anything; it's just fun to know what's out there.

Tell me about it! :)

All I'm thinking about is that Micro Pog and the sounds I'll be able to get out of it.

+1 I have dropped a lot of money on pedals this last year, and still have GAS!

torres don't worry too much about the 9v battery in that fuzz face. Distortion/fuzz pedals are not very power hungry, and IMHO sound better with the battery run down a bit. Enjoy.

I went through the same just a while ago.
I was used to use my Fendr Cyber Twin with onboard effects. Then I got myself 2 tube amps and needed effects. I tried the Boss GT-10 multi effects processor. Great multi pedal but a hassle to find your way through all the menues.

I sold it and looked for single pedals.

I use the tc electronics "Hall of Fame" reverb, tc electronics "Dreamscape" (Vibrato, Chorus, Flanger), T-Rex "Replica" delay and a Boss OC-3 octaver which can actually octave CHORDS; not just single notes. For distortion I use the crunch channels on my amps.

After I had seen a guy creating entire songs with a loop station live on stage on TV, I was so fascinated that I got myself a Line6 DL-4 Delay/Loopstation as well.

Now I'm suffering from pedal GAS and must severely control myself, because my guitar GAS is bad enough already, I don't need a third addiction (after guitars & amps)! *sigh*

Too late for me, it started with guitar GAS, which quickly festered into pedal GAS, and Now I have a wicked case of amp GAS...sadly there is but only one cure. I'm gonna need to work some overtime

Sounds like you're going to have a pretty good setup. I think I'm going to check out a couple of those pedals you named, they seem interesting.
I found the coolest pedal the other day, it's called the Boss SL-20 Slicer. Check out the videos on this page http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetai ... ductId=959 it's pretty cool IMO.

I have rediscovered The Joy of Pedals. I'm now up to 20 (not including the one I "loaned" to someone back in the 20th century). Am working on vibe pedal No. 3 and I would love to acquire an old BOSS PN-2 stereo panning tremolo pedal for substantially less than eBay sellers are asking these days. Why doesn't BOSS reissue this one . . . and several of the other classics?

I picked up a nice Dunlop Univibe a few weeks ago, Sounds really nice. SOme of these vintage pedals have gotten a bit pricey for sure, I'm in a similar situation with a deluxe memory man, the older ones have gotten expensive, and in this case they make a new version, but for me it doesn't have the warmth of the original, I'll keep waiting, I refuse to do the Bay anymore. My pedal count is right up there with you Steve.

Thanks Everyone, a lot of good suggestions there.

It is like a new form of GAS. I've always wanted an array of pedals that can just be introduced or removed from the pedal board as I see fit. I'm looking forward to get this board filled with good stuff and taking it to the studio. :)

I got €1130 worth of Amazon vouchers from work today for a project that I brought through recently. I went and blew over €900 of it on effects pedals. the ones that I got are:

1. TC Electronics Polytune
2. Ernie Ball Volume pedal
3. Electro-Harmonix Micro Pog
4. Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy
5. Belcat Analog Chorus
6. Belcat Flanger

The last two pedals were the cheapest but they have been getting terrific reviews in Guitarist Magazine and were only €22 each. I've held back on getting a board to house all of these pedals in as I wanted to get use the Amazon vouchers to get pedals that I could not have afforded. It's funny, two days ago I was wondering how I was going to afford the next pedal, yesterday I bought six. It's funny the difference a day makes.

So all of these pedals will be in the post and it will be about a week before they arrive. I'll post pictures when they arrive.

Way to go Torres...Now you have to find a pedalbard/case and a filtered power supply. Way to go your hard work paid off.

The TC Electronics Polytune is next on my hit list. Saw the demo and I think it's just what I need. The rest of the short list is:

Black Cat Vibe
BOSS Panning Tremolo PN-2
Volume pedal (EB?)

. . . and I need a powered pedalboard, too, once I solve this little income problem I have at the moment.

I'd also like a board steve.. was looking at the Pedaltrain Jr, Voodoolabs Power 2+ and George L cables.

Unfortunately that adds up pretty quick for what you get.
