Not sure what possessed me but I bought a "new" guitar this morning, this little beauty. Shipped with a hardshell case for $350 seems like a reasonable deal given the case and free shipping. The plan is to eventually gut it and rewire it with the same pickups Garcia used, so I'll be adding a third pickup. A Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge, a Super II in the middle, and a Dimarzio SDS-1 in the neck. I was thinking about trying the same project with an Epi nighthawk but wasn't sure about the pickup spacing and would have to do much more routing. Anyhow... here's a picture.

Looks beautiful but something confuses me. I always thought morning gas was something you got after a night of drinking lots of beer.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

In my case it was Creekside Lemonades... after two or three of them, you wake up next to the creek wondering how you got there... and believe me, after an evening of a few of those and a bunch of pizza there's no shortage of that gas here today either!

Sometimes the only reason you need to buy a guitar is just "Because"
Enjoy your new guitar and project I will be watching for some audio clips

yeah, it was a just because moment... I'm going to goof off with it for a while before modding it. I've reaccessed my neck pickup choice and am just going to use two Super II's for the neck and middle and a Super Distortion for the bridge. 3 Volumes with push/pull for coil split for each pickup and one master tone... seemed like the easiest way to get a bunch of tones w/o wiring a 6-way rotary. Should be fun...
