My wife is an Audiologist and even she doesn't recommend the profession. The pay isn't what you might think for someone in the medical field.

That said she has taken outstanding care of my hearing. I play shows every weekend, I'm 40 and I STILL have hearing as good as my 8 year old son (your hearing peaks when you are 10).

She was amazed when we met that I was not only NOT deaf but my hearing is in the top percentile.

She did make me some killer pro earplugs which are NOT the crappy ones you buy at the drug store. They reduce frequencies evenly across the entire spectrum so what you hear is diminished volume NOT mud.

I'm sorry but I can't pass this up... you should be 'ear-waxboy'

...but seriously. This is a big deal. On top of my trauma induced tinnitus, my right eardrum has ruptured twice in the last couple of years on plane flights. So far the guys I play with have not complained about my hearing loss, or maybe their even deafer than I am!

Hearing loss is not funny.

More like "Lack of Earwax-Boy"

Sorry to hear about your tinnitus and eardrum troubles.

I work as a hearing instrument specialist with a successful company in Wisconsin. I find it ironic that every time I jack in I'm about to make some future patients... Guess that's my definition of job security

I just got a pair of wicked sweet musicians plugs with special filters that don't attenuate sound; essentially they just cut down the volume of every noise by 9, 15 or 25dB, depending on which filter you put in. You can still hear yourself sing clearly without the 'rainbarrel sound', also known as the occlusion effect. As far as looking goofy, the ones I got can come in up to 3 different colors swirled together (I got red & black). They all look flippin sweet.

I got mine for free cuz I'm a rep, but you lowly mortals can get em at almost any HIS office for a few hundred dollars, and they'll last for years.

And if you don't get em? In a few years, you may be paying me several grand for hearing aids.

I'll be happy to help either way
