Trust us old timers little brother, play the acoustic. Learn some old school stuff like Neil Young and the Eagles and you will become a way better guitar player/musician in a quicker time frame for it. :P

If I trusted the old timers I wouldn't have found my favorite genre. I do enjoy the older artists in question, however, playing their songs just doesn't do much for me. I had a couple lessons from a friend of my mother's and we played along with an Eagles record. It didn't feel right to me. That's just me, though.

Humm, no. Get serious if you want to be a better musician. Most of us growing up in the 60's and 70's playing acoustics, liked Neil Young a lot. Although his style is simple, it's challenging in a way.

Then you shouldn't of bought an acoustic guitar! Stick to the butthole surfers and suck as a guitar player the rest of your life. I don't care!

Just because I play differently doesn't mean I'm terrible. It just means I'm different. A change up to the music you're used to probably won't sit well with you, just as a change up wouldn't sit well with me. The reason I bought an acoustic is because I had been playing unplugged a lot and was liking what I was hearing.

You have a lot of potential. Can I ask you a favor? Can you learn this song? Just do us this favor, learn this song even if you don't like it.

It sounds too complicated for me. The underlying rhythm is simple enough, but the extras layered on top of it would have my fingers tied pretty much in a knot.

The problem is that I only play rhythm.

I can't play lead either.

And you can do this using a pick. Maybe not as sweet, but so what?

I also use an open tuning. The only part that's closely related to any form of standard are my a and d which are in e flat, if I'm correct. Other than that, it's free. (kept to a certain pitch of course)

This is more my speed.

What I do unplugged is completely different though. It's basically a different person playing. It's still simple, but the styling is different.
