Timely topic. Last night I made my beloved Hamburger Stroganoff from my early-70s Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. It looks like a congealed gray mess, but it tastes fantastic!

Mmmm... 8)

Poutine is delicious! They used to serve it at school every month, those were the best days. Now I'm hungry!

Laughing so hard right now...thinking of Eric Cartman sitting in a hot tub of KFC gravy surrounded by McDonald's french fries

Bros, not trying to be disagreeable but food before it is eaten does not look like it does after the hurl process. Chunder is chunder and although some chunks may appear recognizeable after hitting the floor or whatever surface they hit, it doesn't resemble food. This is of course IMHO and YMMV, to quote my favorite Martian. :D

Many (many) years ago I worked in a theatre. One time we had a play that had a scene where a drunken soldier home on leave had to sit quietly in a chair for about ten minutes while other stuff was happening, and then suddenly lean forward and puke into his own lap. To achieve that he had to hold a big mouthful of vegetable soup for that time without swallowing or gagging - when the moment came it was unexpected and always got a big "EW!" reaction from the audience, especially those nearby.

We experimented with different soup and finally settled on Campbell's Vegetable Soup as giving the perfect look and texture of beery vomit. Something to do with the diced carrots:

Campbell's. Puke personified.

(If memory serves I think the chundering actor was Sean Bean - Boromir from Lord of the Rings - in his early days.)

Cheers - C

Thanks to all of you who have responded and made the thread interesting. Upon reflection, I traced the orgins of this trait to my childhood.

It was the Fall of 1964, my first few weeks of my first exposure to elementary school (1st grade). After the state provided lunch in the cafeteria, the class settled down to the long sultry Alabama afternoon, and more lessons. However, for one classmate seated in the next row to me, the day had been too much. In the midst of lessons, poor Tommy Paine released his lunch all over the hard black plastic tile floor. And there it was, sprawled out in a grand panorama of color and texture, was the identical creamy vegetable concoction I had enjoyed at lunch, with the added benefit of the workings of the digestive process.

It must have been a Friday, because Friday was always "Soup or Chili" day. I was stunned. It was my first exposure to a public vomiting, and the end of my love of creamy vegetable soup, or creamy foods of all types. From then on I would take the Chili.
