One of the young ladies that I work with just offered me some soup to take home for dinner tonight. It's a potato soup brew with chuncks of meat and other stuff, oops it looks like something I threw up while having the flu!

Now, I am born and raised in the Deep South USA and love the cooking, especially my home South Louisiana gumbo's etc. But where I am now is a little less French and more Redneck.

I respectfully decline a lot of casseroles, and this potato soup, because it looks like vomit and I cannot get past that. A favorite here is white gravey mixed with ground sausage over biscuits for breakfast. Not only does it remind me of vomit, at 6:30 in the morning it makes me want to vomit.

Do you guys have some favorite vomit dishes from you home lands?

That last bit sounds like what we in the Coast Guard called SOS or $#!+ on a shingle.

Where to begin...

There's Colcannon

Champ

A good old Irish Stew

Dulse kind of looks like vommit if you squint.

Irish cuisine isn't all bad though, we do have the ulster fry, distinguishable from a Full English by the lack of beans and inclusion of white pudding, pancakes and soda and potato breads. Hashbrowns are a bit of a wildcard.

There's no white pudding in that picture, mind you.

Coast Guard? Hey, small world! I'm retired from the USCG! 8)

I was a Yeoman First Class (E-6) and retired back in 1996.

Sausage gravy on scrambled eggs looks disgusting, but oh man that is as good as it gets.

I have this problem with food texture that borders on phobia.
My asperger kid has it as well.
Asperger´s is a mild form of autism.
When my ex-wife asked the specialist who treats my kid, -what do you think about his father?
-He is well socialized, was his answer. Screw him.

Ah, breakfast time!... broiled salmon and crunchy broccoli. :D

As somebody with one half of my family being southern, I can say that this is one of the greatest things ever invented.

Mike,

I have a friend who has a son with that condition. I gave the kid a Squier Strat that I tricked out and a nice amp. I have not talked to my friend in about a year so I am not sure if the kid took to guitar or not.

Yes, I realize its a favorite of many, and sure its tastes swell to them. The look and texture is just something I cannot get past.
