Thanks for the tips on the FL stores Rob. I'll look into it tomorrow.

One other thing.....every '65 Strat I've ever seen had a full, pickguard sized aluminum shield under the guard. Does the new RI come with one of those?

Looks like you guys have yourselves a snowball rolling down a hill, Rob. Just touched the tip of the iceberg in terms of what the base is asking for. Question is whether or not the company wants to go there.

Hi Rob!

One question has been burning in my mind since these were announced: Is there any particular reason the custom color Jaguar and Jazzmaster don't have vintage-correct matching headstocks?

Oh, and another one: If new knobs were made for the Jazzmaster, why aren't those vintage-correct?

These are pretty big slip-ups if the goal is accuracy.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
Ok......looks like I need to catch up a little.

Yes, the 65 Strats have shielded Pickguards.
Colors--Let me draw from my own experience on colors.....just because we don't have a color now--doesn't necessarily mean that we won't. So to me, that's always on the table and being looked at.

Not sure what you're thinking is incorrect. The knobs are vintage correct and in fact, made by the same company that made them then.

I would just say that not all Jazzmasters and Jaguars had matching headstocks..... and again, as I answered above concerning colors......who knows what tomorrow will bring? (ok, probably the Marketing guys.....).
At any rate, there you have it.
I was looking around at headstocks and history and such---- and came across the pic below. Kinda cool. Cheers, rob

Thanks Rob, nothing like a little nostalgia to make a guy who just turned 70 feel like he's been there.......like the actual inception years of those guitars.

A little 'nose pressed to the glass window of the music store and wishing music' please.

The numbers are upside-down.

I appreciate the answer. It's true that not all custom color Jags and Jazzies had matching headstocks, but they're seemingly pretty rare (aside from Black and Olympic White, which got the treatment less often than others). It's kind of an identifying characteristic of those particular guitars in that era, though.

I'm just relating to you that the Fender offset communities and collectors are mentioning these two issues quite frequently. That is to say, the biggest fans and purchasers of Fender offsets consider these as issues.
