Seymour Duncan posted this photo awhile back and I decided to clean it up a tad and re-balance the colors. It was taken after a show when Jimi was on (short lived) tour opening for the Monkees. I believe it was taken by Mickey Dolenz and shows Jimi with Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork. Cool Gretsch, Mike's?

So if he did indeed pick up someones right handed guitar, he's playing it upside down and apparently well enough to have peoples attention. Jimi was a genius. And that is a beautiful guitar.

It makes sense that he is able to play like that though. When he was young, his father didn't want him to play left-handed, so anytime his dad left the room he would flip his guitar around and play upside down.
Being a lefty myself though, I have noticed that as soon as you play a guitar like that you already have peoples attention. Even if you cannot play very well, people still want to see exactly what you are capable of. It can be quite embarrassing
