Yeah. That was the first time I've ever been in open G. I litterally just tuned, didn't play, pressed record and there. It seems like a good tuning.

New guitar coming next week too. All as I know is that it's gonna be a decent, steel resonator. I'm going to some guitar store in melbourne that apparentley has quite alot. I'll see what I come home with. What I also intend on doing, is some time later this year (most likley christmas) I'm going to get a pickup for it. Probably single coil. Resonators + fuzz go eargasmically good in a garage blues mans ears.

A couple more things. I've gotta school based gig on friday, just playing 2 or 3 songs. The following tuesday I'm getting my last BTX treatment for my spasticity in my right limbs. The government paid for my previous ones, and there not doing that anymore. An it costs big $$$. Optimisticly, this'll give me a chance to finally adapt to the condition, without anything alternating my nerves, or muscles, or whatever it is. I'm not quite sure on that   . So I mightn't be able to play as good as I have been able to. Worst case scenario I wont be able to play at all. But hey, if it was meant to be, it was meant to be. No point in artificially interfering with natures course, right?

Anway, thats whats been happening in my life. For now, I shall leave you with a song to ponder about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5w0aEe-Ub0

Ive had two slide lessons so far..tons of fun! I tried the open G but for some reason I prefer the open D tuning..I hope you have a blast with the resonator!
Best of luck on your upcoming school gig and thanks for the audio share!

G'day rileymcc,
First of all, well done with the open G stuff. Your first crack at it and already you're sounding authentic. 8)
Now let's talk Resonators.
I got my Recording King Tricone online from the USA including postage to Oz for $450.

These chinese replicas all seem to come from the same factory, marketed under various names with different badges and modifications. I played an identical guitar at the local music shop last week which had a $1300 price tag, I've had about 6 months to get to know mine and I swear this one in the shop was the same with a different badge.
Yep I did take a gamble buying online, but I'd done as much research as I could and in my case things worked out very well indeed, I love the thing. It has a nickel plated brass body, mahogany neck, a pretty good reproduction of the old Nationals.

I can thoroughly recommend the Recording King brand. They also do single cone Resos.
Mine doesn't have a pickup but there's room enough for a single coil, which brings me to "the Rat Rod"

I fitted a Tele neck pickup years ago, and yeah Resos + Fuzz 8) The new Fender Resos have a Tele pup, so it seems I was years ahead of my time

Anyhow mate, whatever Reso you decide on, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. You seem to have a feel for Delta Blues.

Here's some threads I did on the Tricone and "the Rat"

Sounded good! I love open G.

As for the guitar, I highly suggest the new Gretsch resonators if you have the money. I used a friend of mines, and it was great.
Anyways, can't wait to see what you get!
