Are we thinking of Gretsch?

Gretsch are sort of within the Fender family of brands, in as much as in 2003 they entered into an arrangement with FMIC where Fender would handle development, distribution and sales of Gretsch guitars while Fred Gretsch III would continue to own the company. So Fender don't actually own Gretsch and to the best of my knowledge have nothing to do with the drums, which I believe are still made in South Carolina.

Or is it the Rogers drum marque we have in mind?

There was some recent talk here on the Forum of the Rogers brand being owned by Fender, but I believe this might be based on a misconception. In 1966 Rogers was bought by CBS, who moved production to Fullerton, CA, where they also owned Fender. In 1983 CBS sold Rogers to the same management group who bought out Fender from them. However, they didn't do much with Rogers and eventually in the '90s sold it to Brook Mays Music Company. They in turn took it down market and eventually went bust in 2006, at which time the Rogers brand was bought by Yamaha. However, they don't seem to have done anything very much with it either as yet, merely marketing some retro flavoured kits that have been badly received.

Or there's also some budget drums sold with the Squier brand on the front. Could that be it?

It's all good clean fun, isn't it?

Cheers - C

No mention of drums is made by any of the companies owned or otherwise associated with Fender:

Ok. I can find plenty of photos of Squier drums on line. Show us a catalog listing where they can be purchased.

And here's a third, but they show it as discontinued:

Nice try, but:

Active Musician says "Permanently Out of Stock
We do not expect this item to ever be in stock again, and cannot provide a timeframe for when or if this might happen."

Durdels buy it on line link doesn't work.

Audio Links says "Discontinued".

Nor does it show up in the Squier on-line catalog.

So although Squier at one time appears to have offered a drum set, they do not now.

You'd be much better off getting a Gretsch set.

Every modern Gretsch kit I've heard or had the pleasure of jamming with has sounded amazing. I've never met anyone who plays one who doesn't love theirs.
