What a ridiculous statement to make! There are more Fenders for sale on e-bay then any manufacture out there! I love my Fender guitars but I refuse to think they are they only people that can make quality . Bolt on neck guitars are the easiest to make of all! For you to make it sound like a set neck Epi is junk just shows ignorance to what a quality guitar is! I haven't played for 40+ years and not know what the difference is! Lumping a name in to quality is a joke! Foreign Foreign manufactures have been making musical instruments before there was a U.S. and some of the greatest acoustic craftsmen in the world are European and Asian. Don't equate where a guitar is made to quality because that would be stupid. The Erhu and the Pipa where made in Chana a thousand years ago! StradivarI was Italian! To just say Epi Lp's are junk , Ridiculous!

^^   Don't blame me i didn't build them :? The fact is that the bolt on neck Epi's have a terrible reputation for being crap. It just so happens they're also dirt cheap. Can you not see the connection? clue: it's in the price.

They may have higher end one's that play better, i've never tried those but i believe Alan when he says the custom he has is good.

The point remains though; the £200 one's are hopeless.

Curious, why is a low cost bolt on neck MIM Fender better then a low cost Asian Epi? They have better wood in Mexico, or better builders. I be wiling to bet most of there build stock comes from asia. Low cost has more to do with employee and goverment regulation cost. Bolt on necks are easy to make but not all can do a set neck right! Its all about the final adjustment that makes playability and the amp its going thru. Sure some high cost parts can make that adjustment easier and more stable but you are only going to get them on high coast instruments no matter who makes them. MIM Fenders are great for the money but I don't see any big difference in Asian Epi's of the same cost quality wise. I have some of each and enjoy them. Like a Women don't judge you never know what pleasure you may miss.

You would have to go with the upper end ones.

This. I will probably own an Epiphone sometime within the next couple of years and I'd have to say that a high end Epiphone Les Paul really isn't a bad guitar at all. Do it dude!

This subject always brings on a great debate. This is how I see it:

I will buy my Epiphone Les Paul and be happy @ $599-$749 + some cheap upgrades

You will buy your Gibson Les Paul and be happy @ $1,399-$4,749

As long as we're all happy with what we have, everybody wins!
