Honestly, there's not going to be a need for violent revolution or personal arsenals. That's FOX trying to scare people. You're more likely to be killed by your own gun than someone elses anyway, just get the guitar and don't feed the fear machine.

martynr, once again you present a well thought out argument. let me say this about assault rifles and the reason i own one or five.
natural disaster. pick one. i don't know about you but i've seen folks get desperate or just greedy when these things happen. sure its not likely but i like to be prepared. (or brainwashed and scared, you decide). i bought mine soley because sean hannity told me to. HAHAHAHA. or was it megan kelly. also, we frequent a farm on a regular basis. it is over-run with wild pigs or boars if you will. they cause extensive damage in a short time. they can be very dangerous also. when we actually catch these bastards in the act of rooting our hayfields, i want to send as many projectiles in their direction as possible at a fast rate. the ar15 is very effective at this.

scared by FOX news. good one. i think you should turn off "the view" and go outside. somewhere there is a tree that needs a hug. you go on now, give that tree a big old hug. it will need one when i come after it with my mean ole' chainsaw. HAHAHAHA.

Arjay...........have you been watching FOX news????
shoot straight and have fun. we have a violent revolution on the way you know. you feed that fear really good now. i can't wait to get back to the farm and do some long range shooting. (300 yds plus is long range for me). my marlin 308 mx is crazy accurate at long range. i try and stay at a safe distance from the hogs since momma pig gets a little crazy when i drop one of her babies. boy they sure do taste good. we leave the big ones in the field for the buzzards and coyotes. then we shoot the coyotes too. farmin' is fun.

Glocks feel plasticky to me, I like my Colt 1991, and there would only be a collapse if the Romney/Ryan team were elected, and since they won't be, there's no danger.

Get the Glock 23 the 40cal. That is a good round I have three. Favorite is a Baretta 96FS B.A.T.S. Baretta Advance Tactical System. Also have a Glock G35 that is very nice and a S&W SD40

You might need to protect yourself one day.
I recommend the S&W sigma series.
It Never jams, and there's No safety switch to look for.... trigger integrated.

....you can't tell the robber "hey can you hold on for a second......??"

14+1

....a real heavy telecaster may help in a self defense situation also.

Actually, in this country you are 8 times more likely to be shot and killed by law enforcement then a civilian on a shooting spree. It's not even really about violent revolution. It's about the ability to protect one's self from what may come your way.

There are places in this country that deal with organized crime. There are members of the government who abuse their authority. Take Katrina victims for example. Assuming that every member of the government that carries weaponry is a "fine upstanding public servant" is naive. These people carry serious hardware. So you should have access to any personal armament that can be used against you by your government or anyone else. It's common sense.

Not to mention that anyone who claims that there will be no governmental abuses of the citizenry obviously has never read a history book. Empires fall. They all do. Most tyrants turn their dogs on their people. It has nothing to do with the politics of any administration over the other, either. Sooner or later, it will happen. I'd hope anyone who owns firearms hopes they never have to use them in self-defense. However, I also hope they are all prepared and willing to do so should that time come. There is no moral superiority in being a victim.

Word and Breath, i'm not a parent and i have zero parenting skills. i agree with all of your precautions to protect your kids from your firearm. i just want to say this.
we were raised to respect the weapon. it is not a toy and it is made to kill. i think sometimes hiding guns just makes the kid more curious. i'd teach them to use it properly before i locked everything away. like i said, i know nothing about parenting and all my guns are loaded at all times.

I think that"s a big part of the problem, inadequate training. i was raised to believe
"Every weapon should always be treated like a loaded weapon" and
"NEVER point a firearm at anyone unless you are prepared to take their life"
when children are not properly taught these lessons and find the gun.... they get hurt.
Lack of parenting is the big killer.........

exactly bizzarredude. whatever Word decides to do or not do is his decision. i have a large family that enjoys firearms. not even once have we had a gun related accident. not once. that comes from education about the weapon. we were taught to shoot and we either liked it or didn't. those of us that did learned that what we held in our hands was not a video game controller and if you shot someone there wouldn't be a reset button. i'm 44 and practice safety just like i did on day one with my uncles. the media has done an outstanding job at demonizing firearms.
