So, with me getting my Black top Jazzy working to my satisfaction my next project is experimenting with some Pup combos for some of my geetars.

On the operating table is a 65 Reissue Mustang - I like the stock pups, but the are for lack of a better word, passive to me, not strong.

I'll be honest and admit my love of Nirvana and my initial intentions with this was to model it after Cobain's, unless I can figure out something I like better that is the route I will go. However in my defense I think Cobain's set up COULD easily be used for the other styles of music I play as well.

I wants that muddier Nirvana-esk Non metal distortion but equally as important are some good clean tones for blues and or even Jazz.

Second is the Black Top Jazzy - What drew me to this guitar initially was the contrast between the Jazzy pup, and the bucker. Its like two guitars in one, the contrast between the two are like two separate personalities in one.

Keeping with that theme I would like to experiment with a Pup more towards Jazz and then a stronger bucker to follow it up. (no interests in EMG's)

I don't think the negative Black Top Jazzy reviews on the pups are necessarily accurate, I can and have pulled some very nice tones outta her, but I have to work at it…….and im a lazy lazy man.

Want something warm with sustain on both the Cleans and Dirty with this one.

So gentlemen if you have any suggestions, advice or ideas I would greatly appreciate them!!!!

Thanks

P.S. - Also elimination as much Hum as possible - I used to not mind some hum, but since I've changed Pups in my Strat to CS-69's, I love the tone, but constantly fighting the 60-cycle hum…………driving me nuts………….contemplating trying out the Noiseless vintage pups………...
