Here’s an intentionally “stupid ad” I placed on my local city’s CraigsList a little while back, in response to so many argumentative posts with regards to tribute bands (a scourge on our fine city’s local music scene). Enjoy…

I have been a member of three tribute bands, so I see nothing wrong with them.

My first band was an AC/DC tribute band called “Dirty Dee and the Dunder Chiefs“. We were doing really well until our lead singer died after accidentally drinking a case of vodka.

Soon afterwards, we got a new lead vocalist and formed a tribute to another great Aussie band, INXS. We called it “In Excess”. We were doing really well until our lead singer died after accidentally taking his pants off over his head.

But all that’s in the past as we have recently formed a new tribute band with a new musical direction. We’re called “The Free Byrds”. It’s a tribute to southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd. I’m feeling very optimistic about this one. We even have our first big gig lined up for tomorrow night. The promoter has even booked us a flight on a private plane for the gig. It’s going to be awesome!

Thats even funnier since an Ibanez gio is $250 new and he wants $300 for that and a practice amp.

Post has been removed, I'll have to take your word for it that this was funny. Folks, if you copy an paste the text into your message, it won't disappear when it is taken off CL.

In my area we just had a couple of adds on CL, since flagged and removed, from a guy in Waterloo, Ill. stating he was selling his deceased sons guitars, both Fenders. One was a metallic blue MIM with a chrome pick guard, fake MIA headstock and custom shop decals, fake serial#. He wanted $600. The other was a Tele with no decals or truss rod plug, some other than Fender body in a weird color, with only a Fender bridge plate identifying any part of this guitar. He wanted $600 for this "Fender" also. He claimed to know nothing about guitars, just was time to sell them. A lot of crooks out there, good thing most are stupid.

makes me wonder, all these people posting guitars for sale with missing strings... are they so ignorant that they buy a guitar, try to learn for a few months, break a few strings and then think "well, it's broken now, i'll sell it so i don't have to fix it." hmmm.... :/

I believe this, I know someone who did just that 2 weeks ago. I gave them a new set of strings.

I saw a post recently in which someone was selling a guitar, but it wasn't just any guitar - a SIX string guitar.
