Hi mates, I went to sleep last night and forgot to turn off my guitar amp. I'm wondering if it "hurts" the thing a bit to leave it on more than a few hours. With transistors I would not care, but it's all about lamps in this case.

Thanks ;-)

I agree with murdochart. Tubes are very similar to light bulbs (they are metal elements in a vacuum maintained by glass container). As we all know, light bulbs eventually burn out. Same for tubes. Life expectancy for tubes is better than light bulbs but still.

You should've played through it when you woke up the next morning. It would've sounded sweet. But yeah, you definetely knocked a little life out of'em by leaving it on all night.

I had a little frontman 15g when I first started playing, I left it on for a full week one time (5 days) when I went on vacation. hehehe, I guess that's one thing that's good about solid state.
