Hello Trisk and dharma. I did purchase a used Alembic Distilliate. It sounds almost exactly like John Entwhistle's Spyder Bass. It's a Medium Scaler, and the neck tilts back like a Les Paul. It's my 3rd Alembic, but this is the first to have the "sustain block" under the bridge.

I'll always love the sound of a Fender Bass, too.
