Hey, Niki, I ordered this pink Ramones t shirt because it said it was a men's XL. Well, it's a women's XL, so it's tiny as hell. I can't wait to wear this thing in public.

Honestly, I don't think crystal clear production is the best route for this style of music. It strips it of some of it's intensity.

Floyd, you've seen me demonstrate my recording rig, right? It'l be something like that. Or I'll mic up and damper with pillows like I have before when I've mic'd up. Also, I just realized that the video makes me look insanely tall. I'm only about 6'1.

I understand that it's too loud. But I also don't care what I sound like as much as any other player. I'm not trying to come off as a dick or anything, but I'm just saying that my recording quality isn't going to always be the best, and I'm never going to be ashamed of my own creation, because that's what it is, mine, and I'm proud of how far I've come, even if you, or anyone else says otherwise. I play punk rock, it's not going to be clean very often, and almost never up to any of your high standards.

I'm guessing setting up mics in the 4 corners of the room and dampering the sound and running the PA into my computer isn't a bad idea?

Just make sure to have all the levels where you're happy with them before it goes into your computer and you should be grand.

We used two mics to record piano, drums, guitar, bass and saxophone one time. I'm sure you can get decent results with your set up.

or 3 and one for singing? the room isn't exactly even, as in 4 corners. so maybe 3 would be better. It's also sad that i had to evaluate my own living room for that...

I recommend using Audacity for a DAW. It's a free download, and it's very powerful software. You can turn on the Show Clip option and it will draw a red line across your audio track anywhere you clip, in real time.

And did I mention it's free? :D

I have Audacity. It's really an underrated program. With all of the capabilities and a little know how, you can really make a masterpiece.

Buxom, sorry, I got caught up in the recording aspect and forgot to mention that I liked your guitar playing. It really sounded pretty good.

Sorry for snapping at you. But, thanks. That's not something a commonly hear, considering how aggressive I am with it.

That thought crossed my mind as well.

Kinda one of those "No $@!&" statements, guys. I admit that I need practice, and I'm sure you guys do too, considering you can never stop learning or getting better with something like guitar or any instrument, really.

Hi Buxom

Good stuff man. Know you werent asking for advice on how to record live.... BUT!

I really couldnt recommend the `zoom q3` enough. I got one of the old ones for about £200 a few years back and its the best £200 i ever spent. I think now you can get the high definition newer version for way less pre-owned, or certainly no more than £200 new.

Sure you can google it, but basically its a handheld video and audio recorder that can handle ANY volume, it has 2 inbuilt top quality mic`s set at the perfect angle to capture a genuine stereo sound. I use it to record every rehearsal and gig i do, and have a external hard-drive i keep all this stuff on. The quality really is amazing and makes doing stuff like this so easy. I also play pretty heavy loud music and it is great for all that kinda stuff. Has an inbuild USB adapter that flips out (like those flip-cams) and you can easily download all this stuff in MP3`s and email them to your bandmates or put video`s up on youtube etc.

know it seems a lot of money, did to me, but if you ever see one on ebay or anything going cheap then seriously go for it. absolutely amazing and youd wonder how you ever managed without it.

Cheers

Olly
