You might be better off with something with a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Like a vintage series '57 AVRI. I would think it would wear faster than the urethane finish on the standard.

I have a 1979 Gibson SG Standard that I have played the absolute snot out of. Although, I always took good care of it, and it is still in very good condition. You can tell it has been well played, but it dows not look anything as beat up like a Road Worn. Just my $0.02...

I understand the idea of the road worn series...you hear so many stories about how the thick lacquer finish sucks the tone out of modern strats and teles. I dunno...I like the tone of both my newer teles and having played out and bashed em around a little they're already developing a few tiny chips and dings...it just sounds like a more fun way of breaking in an instrument than buying one already broken in for you at a premium price. I would say take a little time to find a guitar that sounds good in your hands and let it get better with age on its own.

Welcome to the Forum david85. My guitars are thankfully all in good shape, other than the usual wear and tear, dings and scratches. Keep us posted about your road-worn project. A before pic to start :D

Now what exactly is that road worn thingy?
I'm still new to this forum and even a newbie
in guitar playing. I am very much eager to learn
no matter what, no matter how. Thank you!

Road worn means that the manufacturer takes a brand new guitar at the factory and "ages" it to give it the look of an old guitar that has seen a lot of stages.
If you know Rory Gallagher or Stevie Ray Vaughan, you probably also know pictures of their worn strats.

I never understood why I should pay extra money to get my brand new guitar distroyed (optically) . This "relic" mania nowadays is very strange!
I always say: if you want your guitar look like that, play it 40 years on stage instead of sitting in your living room with a fake "relic" or "road worn" guitar which has no history at all!

I admit, a 40 year old real reliced strat has some appeal to me but those fake relics, especially those crappy Mexican Road Worn Series can be recognized as fake from 10 miles away.

The Fender Custom Shop does a much better job on relicing but still, why would I want to pay 1000 bucks more for a destroyed new instrument??? I'll never understand!
Of course, the relicing process is very time consuming, hence the higher price but it's not worth it, at least not to me.

I have some natural dings and dongs on one or the other guitar but I acknowledge and respect the value of a musical instrument.

Some people throw their instruments down the stairs or slide it over concrete to give it a beat up look. Very, very strange!
