I've been trying out a whole bunch of acoustic electrics, I'm
leaning towards the Martin omcPA4, DCPA4 or the GPA4
The om sounds fantastic , just gotta save some dough.
Anyone has experienc with these, how are they live?

Just my two sense..I went with the intention a couple years ago to purchase a Martin or a Taylor..checked out a few models..no bonding occured..picked up a BreedLove Atlas Stage..total and complete adoration..the neck is absolutely incredible
L.R. Bagg's pickup is great also..
Like everyone else says unless you actually try..feel and play a guitar your not going to really know if its right or not..good luck on your future purchase!

Ten years ago I went shopping for a new Martin. I was ready to finally go for it after wanting a Martin for as long as I could remember. I had the money and the time seemed right. I had my eye on the J40M. Every Saturday afternoon for about 6 or 7 weeks I went to about 3 or 4 different music stores and tried every Martin in each store. By the end of the 6 or 7 weeks, I had played every single Martin in town at least twice and many of them 3 times. I couldn't find one I liked the sound of. I was starting to get discouraged when a salesman recognised me as having been there 3 times always looking at Martins and never seeming happy. He gently steered me around the corner to the Taylor section. I played every Taylor in the store and I loved them all. I had finally found the sound I was hearing in my head. I came home a couple hours later with the 814CE Ltd. To this day when I go into the acoustic room in the music stores I try a Martin and I still don't like the sound of them.

Martins have never really worked all that well for me, just don't find them as "playable" as others. I guess it's all in what you're looking for. A lot of people don't like the sound of Taylors in general but I have two and I really like them. I think they sound great both unplugged and plugged, I do a lot of finger style / alternate tuning and Taylors fit that kind of playing very well, so that's just what works good for me.

I have a '78 Alvarez Yari DY74 that is very much like a D28, and I love that guitar, but it doesn't have the action and neck profile like the Taylors do.

Really, I'm a bit surprised about lack of love for Martin.
Don't get me wrong Ive been trying about 30 acoustics
Martins, Taylor's, takamines,Yamaha,gibsons.
The taylors and martins are on top of my list when talking
acoustic tone, once I find the one or top 3 I'll plug em in
and the one with the best tone plugged will be the one.
Taylor's are great, I posted about the PA series that Martin has
solely on price, I thought for the price they sounded great.
I should mention price, I'm looking under 1500.00.
The Taylor 100 and 200 series have laminated back and sides.
Solid wood is used above the 300 series, and 1600 and up.

I must mention I tried a Taylor 314 cutaway and loved the tone and
feel, but it was 1649.00.
I'll just have to wait for a gc 15% off, or Craigslist used market.

Same here. If I had to throw out all my guitars and keep one, it would be my Martin acoustic.

They're also made in Mexico if that makes any difference to you.
Along with the Baby, Big Baby and GS-Mini and apparently all Taylor cases.
Both my Taylors came with G&G cases but they were both bought well before '08.
I believe the Mexican factory in Tecate opened up in '08.

one of my Taylors is a 314CE, everyone who plays it, doesn't want to give it back to. Great player... the other is a 2006 GS Mahogany / spruce. Awesome sounding and playing axe as well.

And it's not that I don't LIKE martins, they don't like me. The neck profile is too thick for my hands (I'm 5' 6" - 149 lbs - so as you can see... I'm NOT a big dude, I have small hands)
I love a good dreadnaught tho. and that's why I dig my Yari. Neck is not as big as you'd see on a d28.

I used to play with a guy who had a Taylor. I played it a few times, it was really sweet in every way. If felt a little bit light in my hands, but not in a bad way. And they are just plain pretty to look at.

I did not know that.
Btw Tecate with lime and salt is great, lol, if you like XX.
But my favorite is Michelob Amberboch

All the other Taylor models are still made in USA. FYI.
Tecate is my fav Mexican beer.
We can't get it up here.
We get Corona, Dos Equis, Modella Negra, Sol, Pacifica and several others but I can't find any Tecate for nacho night.

I own two Martin Dreads, a D-18 Golden era, and an old D-35. neither of them has a pickup. I have a 000-16 RGTC with the aura system that I use for "unplugged" sets at church. The neck is nice and slim and fast. The aura lets you choose different sounds. Unplugged it is a good acoustic blues sound. Not everyone likes Martins, not everyone likes Taylors. It's all what YOU like.
