been stalking this forum all day trying to find any and all info on what i'm buying as soon as possible, one of those new squier vintage modified jaguars...the white one. yeah.... figured i might as well say hi and throw myself in here. so, hey, my name's dan , here's a link to a tune i recorded : http://soundcloud.com/daniel-swift-2/ju ... nute-blues
enjoy, any thoughts / comments are appreciated. just know i taught myself to play and don't have any idea what i'm doing. ha.
oh, and before anyone asks, my profile picture is one of my metal sculptures i make and sell, with a strat i cut out with a plasma cutter and painted up myself. good stuff, yeah?
so, anyone have one of those new squier jaguars? how much do you love it?

Howdy & Welcome Dan!

Can't comment on the Squire Jag as I know bugger all about it, but I did like your tune. Sounds good! 8)

Enjoy your stay!

Andy

Hi Dan,

Welcome to the Forums. Enjoyed listening to your tune. Can't give an opinion on the Squier, never played one.

I'd go to the Squier guitar section and introduce myself and ask around. You'll probably find some people there who own, or at least played one.

Good luck.

Welcome !

I can't speak for the vintage modified but I do own a classic vibe 60's squier which is another one of their higher end products and I think it sounds great, fantastic value for money. But if possible try and get your mitts on one to try if possible , see if you get that mojo feeling.

thanks, joe. i did already get to play one at the sam ash around the corner from me, and it is awesome. i guess i was looking for anyone who might have owned one for a bit that might have any slight complaints or concerns. not that i expect any, i just like to do some research, you know? i had the fender jaguar hh special edition a few years back, but then lost my job and had to sell most of my expensive toys to keep my family fed... so i've been ooohing and aahing over all these new fender jaguars , but they're still out of my price range. this thing is amazing for the price, and the fact that it has all of the jaguar controls unlike most of the squier jags, man i'm sold. and that white/tortoiseshell combination is beautiful.... can't wait. trying to sell an early 80s squier bullet strat i have, and then should have enough money to get it by next week. that classic vibe what you're playing on your surf tune you linked? sounds sweet.

Welcome to the Forum. I don't have any information on the VM Jags. I am more of a Strat-fanatic.

Learning guitar is a process. You are doing well. Have you picked up any self learning books? Practice is the key to playing. Keep it up. Looking forward to seeing you around the Forum.

Squires are good guitars...sit down and play a couple of Jags if there is more than one available...each one will have a different feel and sound...some better than others in YOUR hands. My only complaint (and it's a small one) is that some of the hardware may need a little maintenance or replacement with regular playing. If you have a screwdriver and a little know how, you can deal with that stuff on your own. Can't beat em for the price!

I don't know that the Fender MIM line features Jags or not but, the MIM line has become VERY VERY good for the price! As a long term investment in an instrument that will be reliable for years to come. I would recommend looking at those as well!

RK- i've been doing my own thing for about ten years, but only in the last couple of years started trying to really learn anything from the outside world.. i like to tell people i've built a house without a foundation.... i never learned chords, theory, modes, or anything really.
a friend of mine taught me to read tabs, and i've just kind of figured things out my own way. not the best way to learn , but it has served me fairly well. as far as books, i've had a few given to me and didn't care for most of them.... i did buy myself a surf guitar book a year ago and learned bits and pieces of some of my favorites... but for the most part i just noodle around until something sounds neat, and then go with it.
thanks for all the kind words, everyone :)
mortal-as far as the jaguars go, i play every one of them i can get my hands on. that's my main attraction guitar-wise. i miss my hh, and the holy grail is a 65 candy apple red at guitar center here in nashville. they want some 26 thousand dollars for it , though..... so that'll never happen. but i am a hands-on kind of guy, and plan to modify the white squier to my heart's content.
