Now alphabetized for easier reference:

AD - American Deluxe
AS - American Standard
ASe - American Series
AV - American Vintage
BTT (or BTTT) - Back To Top (or Back To The Top) (used when someone posts for the sole reason of bringing the thread back to the top of the list)
CAR - Candy Apple Red
CC - Closet Classic
CS (or C/S) - Custom Shop
FMIC - Fender Musical Instruments Corporation
FMT - Flamed Maple Top
FSR - Fender Special Run
FWIW - For What It's Worth
GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (Many people insist the G is for guitar thereby requiring other acronyms for other kinds of gear. It was originally “Gear” and GAS is therefore an all inclusive acronym appropriate for all acquisitions of all kinds of gear.)
IIRC - If I Recall Correctly
IMNSHO - In My Not So Humble Opinion
IMO - In My Opinion
MIA - Made In America
MIC – Made in China
MIJ (CIJ) Made (Crafted) In Japan
MIK – Made In Korea
MIM - Made In Mexico
My 2¢ - My opinion
NGD - New Gear Day (again, G misuses abound on the board and that means you will also see NAD and other alternate middle letters. They are not necessary. Just say NGD and avoid the confusion.)
NOS - New Old Stock
OD - Overdrive
OHSC - Original Hard Shell case
OP - Original Post (the first post of the thread)
POS - Piece of (nasty word for poopoo)
POV - Point Of View
Pup(s) - Pickup(s)
QMT - Quilted Maple Top
* RI - * Re-issue, as in DRRI (Deluxe Reverb Re-Issue)
(sic) - possibly wrong but written as quoted
(sp) - not sure if it's the right spelling
VOS - Vintage, (accurate to) Original Specifications
YMMV - Your Mileage May Vary
&^%$#@! - substitute for foul language

AMPS:

BD – Blues Deluxe
BDv – Blues Deville
BJ - Blues Junior
HR - Hot Rod (refers to the series of HR amps and also includes the Blues series as well)
HRD - Hot Rod Deluxe
HRDv - Hot Rod Deville
VK - Vibro-King

VINTAGE AMPS:

BF - Black face
SF - Silver Face
Some Examples:
SFVR - Silver Face Vibrolux Reverb
BFDR - Black Face Deluxe Reverb
SFTR - Silver Face Twin Reverb
BFSR - Black Face Super Reverb

PICKUP CONFIGURATIONS:

PJ - Precision Jazz (refers to a specific pickup configuration on a bass guitar)
HH - humbucking, humbucking
HSH - humbucking, single, humbucking
HSS - humbucking, single, single
SSS - single, single, single

NON-FENDER:

GC - Guitar Center
G&L - George and Leo
LP - Les Paul
R* - Replica model of Les Paul, where * refers to a year in the 50's. Eg. R8 = 1958 Replica
SD - Seymour Duncan

GENERAL ELECTRONICS:

Cap - capacitor
Pot - potentiometer
EQ - Equalizer
OT - Ouput Transformer
PCB - Printed Circuit Board
PT - Power Transformer
PTP - Point To Point (refers to an older, more traditional way of assembling amplifiers)
RWRP - Reverse Wound Reverse Polarity (a method of winding pickups for hum cancelling)

COMMON GENERAL PURPOSE: (You’ll find these everywhere, like on Facebook or Twitter)

BTW - By The Way
LOL - I think what you just said is funny (laughing out loud)
ROTFL - I think what you just said is REALLY funny (rolling on the floor laughing)
OTOH - On The Other Hand

Hee-hee, that's the one that really had me confused in my early days on the Forum. I'd be thinking; "What the heck is the guy talking about?"

Took me a while to work out Martian's YMMV too. But now, I dig. 8)

Cheers - C

Oo, I should think sometimes that is just exactly what he means!

He's far too polite to say so, though.

Since you are a senior member here and have identified this as the go-to list I decided to edit it. I added a few more that I could think of and I will continue to edit and add more as I think of them.

That expression is a throw-back to the days when automobile advertisements used to mention fuel economy numbers within the ad copy. It was a disclaimer intended to keep people from suing the auto maker if their car didn't achieve the advertised fuel economy.

I love that you've got IMO and IMNSHO, but not IMHO. I guess on a guitar forum not too many people are humble about their opinions, so not much use for that phrase.

Where I come from NORWICH stands for (sic) Knickers Off Ready When I Come Home. But you probably don't need to add that one to the Forum list either...

Cheers - C

I did in fact consciously omit IMHO for that very reason and I chuckled while doing so. Glad you noticed. If anyone can think of one that I've missed, please PM me or just post it and I'll include it in the list.

I also purposely left out acronyms for the names of other boards as well as I didn't think it would be fitting to include them here since this board is now the only Official Fender board.
