First of all let me preface my little rant by stating that I am far from being a prude and I am capable of spewing out some pretty foul,multi-syllable profanities-but I'm always mindful of the sensitivities of others within listening distance and never take The Lord's name in vain.

It seems that in the past little while there has been an influx of posters who have apparently little regard for who and how many they may be offending and seem to be blissfully unaware- or maybe just don't care that minors may well be reading their disturbing language.I think that the time is long overdue for people to seriously consider the content of their posts and whether or not they may be offending some other Forum members before they hit the Submit button.

We all have to share this forum and we're all here because we share a common love for guitars and music so it would behoove all of us to make the forum as friendly and welcoming to others as we can.FMIC has provided us with a means to communicate with others from all over the world and can't possibly be as vigilent as they probably would like to be,so the onus is on all of us to police ourselves and make this Forum as family oriented as possible. So please mind your language-after all would you like for your Granny or Mommy to read any filth that you may have written?

Though I've limited my cussing, I know I've probably mentioned some bad stuff in the past few months. Sorry... (I'll show myself out of this thread)

A little common sense goes a long way.

I feel like Brad has been a little too light-handed lately, with all the F-bombing and such that has been going on. When you get those threads going where it's The Kids vs The Adults, the results are not gonna be pretty... and haven't. And it seems like some of the new arrivals have no feel whatsoever for what this Forum really is, but that's just my humble 63-years-of-life-experience talking.

I don't think any of your opinions are wrong, but I do think that in the lyric thread, a bigger ruckus was raised by offended members than was necessary. It gets to where the bickering is worse than the original post.
In the grand scheme of all the crap that's available on the internet with just a click, this was no big deal. You can always choose not to click. Is that possible?

This is always a problem with community boards. As much as I like to feel as if I were in a room with a bunch of my musician friends when I post here it is very easy to forget we have a wider audience than we think. I'm sure if we were in an actual room drinkin' and cussin' we'd all put our language in check as soon as we saw a kid stroll in. The members are, by far, the biggest influence when it comes to dropping reminders to others that kids could be reading what we write. Be the change you want to see. Help the forum improve and keep the heart of what we have here alive.

Some of the most helpful and respectful people I have run across in forums of all sorts have been in this one. I would not like to see them leave for any reason. I'll do my best to remember who is in our audience and please let me know when I have a lapse in better judgement.

How about a "Fender Playground" section under the lounge?
it would be a place dedicated to all this nonsense.
could be a troll den in a way

"The Playground" the place to post anything of controversy that you know will draw the flames.

this way those of us NOT looking for trouble, know exactly where not to wander

The one forum I spend time on calls it the Sand Box.
If the admins see any threads that's controversial, it gets moved into the Sand Box. The same kids can through sand at each other until they're worn out and no one else knows any thing about it.

that would be allot of policing on brads end. but with a "Cage" area. you just let them do what they want (within reason of course) and if you don't want to risk being offended don't go in.

I think Brad has slacked off a lot. When this site first came about Brad was a whole lot more hands on and did not allow one member to offend another by name calling, cursing, etc. He often stated that the Fender Forum was a family oriented and respectful place where members could discuss music related themes. Lately anything goes and if other members don't complain vigorously to Brad anything is accepted. I blame both the forum members and Fender moderators.
Well...enough from me.

I think what we perceive as slacking, is brad simply having other responsibility's taking priority. I highly doubt "Forum moderator" is his only given duty. In the same way that Mike Eldred doesn't constantly refresh and watch the custom shop section 24/7. he has other responsibility's to take care of.

Off course, forum moderator, is not Brad's only job. That is why I said forum moderators. If nobody is assigned that particular job then they should hire someone to do it. Most sites have them. When the forum was young Brad was able to handle it alone. This is not the case today so some attention is needed unless FMIC has decided that it just doesn't care.
